Give me a break. I sigh as I walk down the street. Another day the same routine. I get up. Get ready. And walk to school. Well here I am halfway to school. It's pretty cold outside, I guess it would be considering that it's October. Don't get me wrong I love the cold weather. But today my mouth hurts like hell and the cold is only making it worse. Yours would to if you got punched repeatedly in the face. I'm a block away from school and I noticed the house that was for rent for what seemed like years was finally occupied. The house is obviously a two story. It is black with a grey roof, the porch was painted an olive green and the door was red. It has a backyard though I can't see it but the front yard was full of grass that needed to be cut.
A U-Haul and a black Hummer sat in the graveled driveway. The U-Haul was open and movers were bringing in boxes. I looked over to the Hummer and there was someone sitting on top of it. I guess I stared to hard because he looked right back at me. His eyes met my drowsy eyes. He looked about my age maybe even bit older. He wore a beanie but you can see locks of messy soft pink. He wore a black jacket and black sweatpants. But what was so strange was he wasn't wearing any shoes. A grey cat jumped on his shoulder then made its way to his lap. Then he smiled. He smiled at me. I didn't know what to do so I tilted my head. Then he did the same.
This was getting strange so I decided to keep walking to school. I wonder if he'll be in my school. As I got to school I had five minutes to get whatever I needed from my locker and get to homeroom. #473. My locker is #473. These lockers were dull and small. Every single locker was dull and small. This school is dull but in no way small. This place was a castle. A huge place where students walk around in the boring uniforms. I sighed and looked down at my uniform. A white button up shirt with a wool grey vest over it. My legs were covered in black slacks and my feet wore the required black dress shoes. I stuffed my book bag in the locker and got out my chemistry, trigonometry, and political history books. I also took out a little blue notebook that I wrote my thoughts in. Slamming my locker door I brought my books up to my chest and began walking to homeroom.
I began to think about the terrible day I'm gonna have today as the morning announcements went on. The murmurs of every student seemed to hurt my mouth even more. My teeth felt like they were being twisted although they were straight. My jaw felt like it chewed a thick wad of gum for three hours straight. And my lips stung. I brought a hand up to my lips and traced the cut that was on it. I wonder, do I deserve this? Then the answer came to me as easily as it does everyday. Yes I do. I can hear them saying something about 'what's for lunch' but the words started to fade away. Soon I closed my eyes and Saint Lewis high school disappeared. My drowsy eyes.
