"I'm sorry Kassidy... they didn't make it." was the last thing I heard before I smashed the phone. It was a landline, so it didn't matter anyway. I collapsed onto the couch, sobbing harder than I did before. "Why?!" I screamed into the throw pillow. "Why?! Why?! Why?!" I repeated, punching the plush red couch with every word I said.
Last night my parents decided to go on a date. I stayed home to watch my 8 year old sister, Amber. It didn't bother me when at 11 o'clock as I was going to bed, that they still weren't home. They needed a night to themselves, so I didn't bother them. But as I hopped down the stairs early morning, I didn't smell the fresh coffee like I normally would on a Saturday. I picked up the phone and immediately called the local hospital, where my dad worked at. "Hello?" I heard a ladies voice ask. Right away I knew it was Becky, the hospitals favorite secretary. "Hey its Kat. Is my dad their?" I asked, my voice shaking with every word I spoke. "Oh Kat..." she sighed. "You didn't hear?" "No, obviously not." I snapped, anxious to know where my parents are. "They were involved in a car crash last night" she said softly. "Well, how they?!" I worried, pacing around my living room. "I'm sorry Kassidy... they didn't make it."
And that's how my world came crashing down.
