*2 Weeks Later*
Kassidy's POV-
As I walked off the plane holding Amber's hand, I spotted my grandparents. They ran forward and engulfed us in a huge hug.
"Oh I missed you so much" my grandma said, squeezing me harder. "It's been so long." I sighed, looking down at Amber. Even though its been 2 weeks since my parents passed, I was still traumatized by it all. We didn't have any family members in Atlanta, so we were forced to move to Omaha, Nebraska. This is where my mother grew up and where my grandparents still live. "Well, lets go get your bags." my grandpa said, picking up my giggling sister.
I'm amazed at how she's coping with it all. But me? I'm a wreck. I broke up with my boyfriend, Alex, of a year and a half because I knew a long distance relationship wouldn't work. And I had to say goodbye to all my friends that I've known since kindergarten.
"Hop in sunshine!" my grandpa exclaimed, pulling me from my thoughts. I slide into his shiny black Escalade and buckled up.
"Where are we going, Grammy?" Amber asked, playing with the stuffed rabbit my parents gave her when she was 4. "To you new home!" she answered with an excited tone in her voice.
"No offense Gran, but I am getting my own room? Right?" I asked, getting a little worried. "Well of course you are!" she replied. "We cant have an almost 17 year old sharing a room with her little sister!" I laughed at how worried I was getting over nothing.
As we pulled into the driveway 30 minutes later, I couldn't help but notice a tall, dark haired boy with beautiful biceps shooting hoops at the house across the street. I climbed out of the car and waited till my grandpa was out of earshot.
"Who's the babe?" I asked, my eyebrows dancing. She knew exactly who I was talking about. "Oh, that's Jack Gilinsky. His mom and yours use to be best friends in high school." she said, pulling my luggage out of the trunk. "All the girls love and chase after him. I mean, he is the star player on the basketball team." she stated matter of factly.
I walked into the house and followed my grandma up the staircase, no paying attention to anything else she was saying. "And here's your bedroom" she smiled, opening the last door in the hall on the right.
I walked in and my jaw dropped. It was like something out of a magazine. The walls were painted my favorite shade of powder blue and the carpet was a snowy white. There were fairy lights dangling above my perfectly made bed. It was placed in the far left corner of the room. It had a daisy floral print bedspread.
"Oh. My. God." I gawked, turning around to face my grandma. "You like?" she asked, walking to the bed to unload my bags. "Like it? I love it!" I squealed. My eyes suddenly stopped on a collage of my parents, friends and former boyfriend hanging on the perfectly painted wall by my bed.
"This is amazing" I barely whispered. "I knew you would love it." she said, placing a hand on my back and kissing the top of my head. "Finish unpacking and come down for dinner" she sighed and walked to the door. "We're having your favorite." she stated with a smile.
"Thank you...for everything" I said. "You're welcome, honey" she said walking down away and down the stairs.
