You Have It All

Chapter 16

What was his problem? I'm not allowed to hang out with my friends? Does he think that just because he's my boyfriend, that he can dictate who I can and cannot hang out with? He better not.

We eventually made up from the fight the day afterwards. We've been dating for a month now and what a month it has been.

Our squads have miraculously co-operated this entire time and as well have choreographed 2 killer dance routines for each team's performances.

Since I said yes to dating Derek, he has benefited our squad in many ways. First our jointed squad, when they work together, they are stronger than the Avengers. As well I dont have to work with Marissa for the captain duets. Both of my duets are with Derek-which honestly I dont mind. Maybe this is what we needed all along? Maybe in order to get our squads to work together, Derek and I have to work together.

Its now 1 month closer to Rival Night. With all the preparation for this night I have completely forgotten about the boys and girls. Wow I'm a great friend. I need to go see them soon.

The routines are coming along nicely. We have our routine for "Wikked Lil' Grrrls" almost done. I don't think I have ever seen a routine so classy. It has that jazzy, sexy appeal to it. Truly one of the best that we have done in a long time.

We still have a long way to go though. We have two routines to still nail. Our next task is to tackle the "I Love It" routine by Icona Pop. Then our biggest task, the "Hey Mickey" routine from Bring It On. Now we cant copy the exact routine from the movie but we're going to get pretty close.

Then there leaves the task of the Nationals setlist. I really want to start it but I should wait until we receive our placing on Rival Night. I know Derek is planning to start making a setlist in about a week or so. He won't share it with me though. Does he not trust me? Obviously but who could blame him, 1 month ago we were each others enemy.

I was sitting on my bed on a Thursday night, doing Biology notes but constantly getting distracted by this competition. My phone lit up with a text.

"What's you're setlist?" It was from Marissa. Why did she care about my setlist?

"Like I would ever tell you" I respond.

"Fine be rude then" she responded. It was none of her business what our setlist was and I would never sell my team out like that.

"Did you hear who's back in town?" She responded again. Doesn't she get the hint that if I'm being dry during a text that I don't want to talk to her?

"Who" I typed back.

"Peneloppe" she responded.

Oh god. Why was she back in town?

"Why?" I responded.

"Here to watch Rival Night" she typed back.

I am so confused. I stopped texting Marissa and went straight to calling her.

"Hello?" She said into the phone.

"So let me get this straight, Peneloppe is in town, a month early to watch Rival Night? She's not stupid, she knows the dates got pushed back. What is she planning?" I said, not bothering with a formal greeting.

"I have no idea. You should watch out." She said back.

"Me? Why me?" I questioned.

"Yeah you. You know why Daniella don't be stupid" she sassed.

"Okay thanks. Wait a second, do you know?" I asked.

"Daniella, Derek isn't exactly a secretive person" She responded.

"Oh God" I laughed into the phone. I could hear her laughing back

"Yeah okay whatever love birds I better not catch you two making out or I'll rip his head off" she joked.

Wow were Marissa and I actually having a civil conversation? This is new.

"Very funny mom, goodbye" I replied. Then we hung up.

I knew Derek wasn't a secretive person but I didn't think he would tell a lot of people. I'm not embarrassed by it though. What I am concerned about is Peneloppe. She's back in town and we all know when Peneloppe's here, trouble always follows.

She hasn't had the best track record. Her and Derek had an on and off fling multiple times in the past year. She used to be the captain of my squad, until she got kicked off the team for excessive lack of responsibility and professionalism.

Then she moved to New York with her family and no one has heard from her since. She checks in from time to time but I never talk to her. She hates me but I can see why. Who wouldn't hate the person who replaced you?

The squad doesn't miss her. Or I hope they don't at least. She never did them any good. She was always flirting with any guy she could see, she would come to practice hung over or high and she was an overall terrible captain.

She could always make Derek shut up though, he always bowed down to her. The only thing I'm worried about is that he never hated her before they dated. Could he still have feelings for her?
