____________________________________(Terroriser/Brian's POV)
Finally the irritating clock strikes 7pm, the ticking hands were slowly drowning me in a suffering impatience as I had to wait for that one number of time to arrive.
The time visiting hours began awhile ago and friends can visit the patients needed for them later on if given permission. For me, it is Mini. Mini had recently been in a car accident with one of my other friends Jay. They both were hit with a massive truck, a Toyota Tacoma, that ran a red light. Sadly Mini was thrown roughly 40ft and Jay 55ft, Jay didn't make it to the hospital on time, his skull fracture causing internal bleeding in the brain.
Luckily, Mini is still alive.
I rubbed my cheeks aggressively, getting rid of the old and new tears that trembled down my pale cheeks and onto my rough skin. Already I miss Jay, although not knowing him very well, he was funny, sweet and was a down to earth guy. He was so young.
I stopped thinking about Jay as a fairly tall woman tapped my shoulder, a slight frown plastered on her lips.
"Doctor, what is it? Is he alive and okay?" I pleaded, tears threatening to fall again, my voice cracking in pain as her frown turned to a saddened mask.
"He's alive. And he wants to see you." She said, glancing over other patients before staring back at me. I nod, walking past her towards the hallway of Craig's, knowing that something was wrong.
This was the first time he was awake in 4 days, and I couldn't wait to see his dorky smile and those beautiful forest eyes. Pulling up to his door, I knocked gently. A faint acknowledgement heard before I stepped in.
Inside was the pale skinned weirdo I loved, he didn't know it yet, even though I think its slightly obvious. He smiled, my heart warming at the small gesture.
I hated looking at Craig's gorgeous body, strapped to these machines and used like a pin cushion, his skin plastered to nasty wires and trapped with needles.
Craig moved his finger for me to come closer, so I took my place at the edge of his bed, resting my knees on the floor. The silence was deafening between us, the noisy beeps the only sound separating us.
"Brian, I can't stay." He said randomly, his dewy tree eyes watering, his lip quivering.
"Wh..what? What do you mean go? You can't give up now!" I cried out, my voice raspy from crying for so long. I wasn't the only one, most of our friends were coming down or had come down, staying at nearby hotels or comforting Craig's family meanwhile I stayed at the hospital the whole time. To afraid to leave his side.
He turned his face towards me, flustered red cheeks, his eyes showing nothing but sadness and fearful anxiety.
"The doctor said I don't have much time, they are amazed I even woke up. I really don't have long, I can feel myself weakening with every breath." He said, his voice soft, almost in a breathless whisper.
My heart jolted in my chest, as if it paused as it hit me, the news creating more trembling tears. I couldn't lose him. My friend. My best friend. My love. 22 and barely breathing, and I was losing him in a short amount of time.
"Craig...I don't want to lose you. I don't want you to die. I don't know what I'm going to do with myself." I said, scrunching the quilt covers in my hand as panic set in my chest.
"Everything will be okay Brian. You'll still have me, just in your heart. Everyone will. Tell everyone I love them okay?" He announced, as if he assumed they could hear him.
"But.." I began, my lips quivering and my legs shaking beneath me. I felt so weak knowing one of the most amazing people in my life, will die.
"I love you Brian, don't ever forget that. See you, whenever." He spoke, his shiny eyes squinting partly, almost closing fully. His grumbled tone faltering.
"I..I love you too Craig." I replied, my heart ached as he closed his eyes, his breath becoming shallower.
After 2 minutes of empty silence, I broke erupting in tears. The machine buzzing a flat line on screen. His heart stopped, his breath disappearing. His eyes never to reopen, those wood orbs never to sparkle in the sunlight. Or his white toothy smile as he cracked a joke. Not the goofy laugh he had, that rang out and lit up every situation.
No more Mini. No more nothing.
Gone.
All because of his accident.
