This is the year during which we become more independent, many learn to drive, and schoolwork is piled on (though not quite to the extent that it is during junior year). Your grades and activities matter, and you should begin to think about colleges in order to determine your high school goals in terms of GPA and standardized test scores. A general list of ideas as to how you can use this year to your advantage includes:

     1. Sign up and take one SAT or ACT test for practice (or take the pSAT)

     2. Run for a position in student government, honor council, or in a club (For leadership), and generally keep extracurriculars in mind as you go through the year

     3. Stay on top of your grades and homework

     4. Enter online contests for writing, art etc. in order to earn potential scholarships and awards

     5. Research and visit colleges, develop thoughts as to what you are looking for in an ideal college
