"Y/L/N!" I heard my name shouted by the coach, so I sigh and jog over.
"What's up?" I ask and he smiles at me.
"I've loan listed you! Washington Spirit is interested. What do you say?" Coach asks and I shrug.
"Where do I sign." I say, not really all that interested, just ready to get away from Boston and our horrible streak so far.
After I've signed everything, I'm sent home to pack.
When I get to Washington, I find an apartment to live in and settle in when I have a place of residence. The following day, I show up to training a little late, my alarm clock was broken in the move. I'd blame movers, but I was the only mover, so I'll take the blame. I forgot it was in there.
"Sorry. Sorry. Ugh. I destroyed my alarm clock in the move. I'm sorry." I say, jogging over to the coach, he looks at me and holds a hand out to me.
"You must me Y/N Y/L/N. Its nice to meet you." He says and I nod. "Follow me and I'll get you your training kits.
When I'm dressed for training the next day, I finally take a moment to fully take in my surroundings and smile a little. When I get outside, my name is called, so I look at the group of my temporary teammates, walking toward them as the person who called my name steps into my view and I freeze when I see my best friend since forever walking to me, I smile and run at her, jumping into her arms and hugging her tight while my legs wrap around her torso.
"Ashlyn!" I cry out, smiling.
"Y/N/N!" She responds, setting me back on my feet. "Oh my god! What are you doing here?" She asks and I shrug.
"I'm on loan from Boston." I say and Ashlyn smiles.
"Thinking of signing with us?" She asks and I nod.
"Yeah, actually I am." I say, walking with Ashlyn.

A year later, I was playing with Washington Spirit in the NWSL, the new Women's league that's supposed to replace the WPS in the years to come, and according to Ashlyn, who was my roommate because the house she lived in last season terrified her, Tom Sermanni was looking into getting me on the roster for the next National Team training camp.
"I can't wait for the next camp." Ash says as we watch Avatar, Ash's favorite movie.
"Why? You miss Hope Solo?" I ask, knowing about the bond my best friend had with Hope.
"Well, that, and because Tom is getting you for the team." Ash says, tossing me my phone as it begins to ring. "That's Tom's number by the way." She says before disappearing into the kitchen, promising to bring me a water as I answer the phone and hold it to my ear.
"Hello?" I ask, listening to the thick Scottish accent on the other end of the call.
"Is this Y/N Y/L/N?" The man asks and I look at Ash as she comes back with two bottles of water, handing one to me before sitting back down.
"This is her."
"I'm Tom Sermanni, head coach of the United Sates Women's National Team. I'm calling to invite you to the upcoming training camp next month. I got your number from your roommate, Ashlyn Harris, I hope that's alright." He says and I look at Ash, but tell him that I accept the invitation to the camp and that it was alright that he got my number off of Ashlyn, thanking him for the opportunity.
"So?" Ash asks, obviously excited.
"I don't have to stay home alone anymore." I say and Ash jumps up before jumping into my lap and hugging me tight.
