The phone screen was way too bright. Caleb wouldn't be too surprised if his brother could see it from across the hall. It didn't matter though- mostly because his brother didn't wake up to bright light. Caleb tapped the screen. His battery was low already, he didn't need slow Wifi too. The screen froze, staying a plain white.
"Dang it!" Caleb exclaimed a little too loudly. His battery percentage was already down to one. If it could hold out a little longer...the screen went black. Caleb groaned. The screen flashed red.
No battery. End of the line for you. Caleb jolted. That was not what his phone normally said when it went out of battery. No battery. No life. Why was it- bolts of pure electricity shot out of the device, burning through Caleb's skin. Smoke started coming out of his burned neck, the white of the bones able to be seen through sizzling skin. So much the fire alarm sounded. No one bothered to notice the red light of the phone illuminating Caleb's burned body as they scrambled out of the house.
