“Well, Jocelyn said that she was acting really rude before she left to go train” clary heard someone say while she was drifting out of the haze of sleep.
“She tore the training room to pieces, it’s going to take a whole week to clean it up! You just can’t underestimate that girl she’s crazy” clary smiled at this and opened her eyes to see jace and Issy above her.
“That crazy girl can hear you, ya know” clary teased. “What are you doing in my room anyway?” clary sat up her legs dangling over the side of the bed.
“We just came in like two minutes ago to check up on you” Jace said.
“I don’t always need a watch dog” clary said rudely. Jace and Isabelle exchanged worried glances.
“What’s wrong clary you’ve been acting strange lately” Isabelle inquired.
Clary gave them confused glances, “I don’t know what you’re talking about I’m fine.”
Jace and Issy exchanged glances again. “Am I missing something here, cause if so, feel free to tell me!”
Clary didn’t know why but she could feel her anger boiling up much faster than usual. The smallest things would tick her off and then she would explode in their faces. Afterwards though she found that she would break down and cry with hysteria.
Jace paused before saying, “We feel as if there’s something you are not telling us”. Clary gulped and tried not to show her fear “and we want you to tell us, we feel it would be better for your well-being”.
Clary took a deep breath as images started flashing through her head again. She shook her head to try and get rid of them. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, I told you everything, I was even trailed by the mortal sword, remember?”
“Yes, but they may have asked the wrong questions”
“Like if-“ Clary cut herself off immediately bitting her lip and looking down towards her lap fiddling with her thumbs.
“Clary if he’s done anything to you, you have to tell us okay? Otherwise we can’t help you, and we want so badly to help you if only you would tell us, Please.”
Clary looked up into his pleading eyes. She only just now noticed the dark aura that surrounded him. He was worried about her. She could see the pain behind his eyes like dark crystals multiplying every second. And she couldn’t lie to him anymore. But she couldn’t tell him, there was no way.
“I-I’m sorry Jace, I can’t”
Jace was about to reply when they heard the institues elevator rattle.
“This conversation isn’t over yet Clarissa” he said as he stanched out of the room after Isabelle.
_
Jace couldn’t believe clary wasn’t telling him. He didn’t know what Sebastian did to her that made her this way but when he does he’s going to make him hurt so bad he’ll regret everything he’s ever done.
Jace then wondered who could be in the elevator. Alec has barley left his room since him and Magnus broke up, Issy was right next to him, clary was still in her bed, Jocelyn was wedding dress shopping, it couldn’t be the vampire, he wasn’t allowed in, or any downworlder without ringing the doorbell. So it had to be a Shadowhunter. Sebastian crossed his mind. But why would he come here, to get Jace back again? After last time he didn’t see that happening. Just in case jace brought out his dagger out of his boot.
“What are you doing?” Isabelle asked.
“We don’t know who it is. It could be Sebastian or one of his spy’s”
A confused look crossed over Isabelle’s features, “why would he come here?”
“I don’t know” Jace answered truthfully.
They arrived just as the doors were opening, revealing a blood stained nightmare, blood was pooling out of the mans thigh, his shoulder length dirty brown hair spread around him like he had fallen to the ground hard. He had dark olive skin, his runes barely noticible. Jace would’ve noted his eyes but they were closed.
“Oh my gosh” isabelle screeched as she ran down to help the man pulling out her steele.
“Jace help me lift him up, we have to get him to the infirmary” she said once she had finished drawing an iratze. Jace launched into action and lifted the man up in time with Issy. Jace hoped this man didn’t die.
He didn’t want another death by his hands.
_
Why couldn’t they just understand she didn’t need their help! She wouldn’t tell them anyway. She couldn’t.
“C’mon Jace faster” clary heard Issy Scream.
“I’m going as fast as I can Issy! This guy is really heavy”
Clary heard the commotion as the passed her room. What is going on? She thought. She pounced off the bed and ran to the door to find Jace and Issy carrying a man that was… covered in blood?
Jace sensed her panic and said, “We found him in the elevator, he must’ve been attacked by someone, these aren’t demon wounds”
When Jace said someone she knew he meant Sebastian or one of his demon Shadowhunters. Clary immediately wanted to help in any way she could, she knew the pain and suffering that Sebastian could create and wanted nothing else than for that pain to go away. She couldn’t help herself, but she might be able to help others. When she looked at him she could see a silhouette of a new rune, it was simple yet could speak many words just by looking at it, it was just two dots connected by a zig-zag line.
They burst through the infirmary doors and as Jace and Issy set him down on the bed, and went to get cloths to stop the blood from gushing out clary pulled her Steele out of her thigh strap and walked towards the dying man.
“There’s no need for that” Clary told them sternly.
She stood over the man like an avenging angel the burning tip of her steele connected with the man’s skin, he groaned in pain as clary drew the most powerful rune she had ever created.
The man started screaming and writhing in pain. It consumed his body everything about his features told you that he was hurting, but soon his muscles relaxed and his mouth made no more sound.
“Clary..” Isabelle started slowly, “what did you do?”
Clary looked down confused, her hands still clutching her Steele “I don’t know” clary breathed before she felt her world slip away.
