Days begin to fly by, soon turning into weeks as Leslie invites me over daily, my father silences himself around me, and Ash gives me annoyed furtive glances. What has this world come to? What did I even do to Ash anyways? I mean, now that I think about it, I was only dramatizing my embarrassing act, assuming it was worse than I thought it to be, but it couldn't have been that bad, right?
Ash will be Ash I suppose. My father will be my father I suppose. And I will be me unfortunately.
I browse the internet, bored, soaking in as much information as I can as the wind sweeps across my face and whips my hair around violently. Music blares into my ear through my ear plugs as it drowns away my paining thoughts.
Something flicks my shoulder, causing me to snap my head towards my intruder, making a small pain throb in my neck. Leslie smiles hugely, her eyes dazzling as she throws her arms around my neck.
"Whaaat?" I groan.
"Guess what guess what guess what?!" She shrieks.
"Please Leslie," I cringe," what's wrong?"
"Let's go let's go let's go!" She squeals slamming my laptop shut, picking it up with one hand, while using her other hand to grasp onto my elbow and hoist me off of the tree I occasionally sit by. The wind sweeps our hair wildly, creating a swarm of leaves to fly past us. She leads me to her car as she swings open the passenger door, pushing me inside as my worry and anxiety levels rise increasingly.
"Leslie what's going on?" I sigh. "You're making me just a little uneasy." I find myself confessing.
"Shh, my parents need to talk to you." Leslie sad impatiently driving incredibly fast down the road as I clutch onto my bag. By the time we reach her large house, she swings her door open, fast walking to my side, where she opens my door and practically yanks me out of the seat. Leslie drags me behind her as I do my best to keep up with her fast pace towards the door. She swings it open violently, causing me to cower back in fear of her overly excited, bubbly self. I'm not so sure I can keep up with it today.
"MOM WE'RE HOME!" Leslie yells while I bite down on my lip to keep from crying. Have you ever had those days where you just wanted to cry for anything? You wanted to burst into tears if your pen dropped. Or sob if you burnt your toast? Well besides the toast and pen, I really didn't want to be here, and my level of crying was too high for me to tame again into its normal state.
Leslie's mother, father, and brother all clamp down the starcase softly as they smile widely. Ash trails behind them in a bored manner, pinching the bridge of his nose as he probably refrains himself from doing anything rash.
"Grey sweetie!" Leslie's mother says. "Great news! For the break we're going to Ashy's house back in Britian just to vacation and see the family. I asked your father last night and he said he would love for you to go. What do you say?" She beams, her eyes pleading for me to say yes.
"God, I never wanted her to come, and you guys suddenly invite her! You guys are intruding in my home, so why add another person? And stop calling me Ashy!' Ash shouts, catching my full attention.
"Ash!" Leslie's father scolds.
"Fuck all of you." Ash spits, climbing back up the stairs. Part of me feels rejection, while the other part feels anger. I don't want to go, and my father suddenly gets to make decisions for me? He's been gone for a while now besdies the time he took me to school, and all of a sudden he wants to be a father again? No dad, you left me for almost three whole weeks! Now I'm being put on the spot for this trip, great. If I say no, I'll look bad, but give Ash what he wants. If I say yes, I'll have to deal with a hell lot of people who will try to pester me.
