Steve's P.O.V
The Gang and I are edging to a near extinction, but Ponyboy's holding us together. I've been hanging out with Sodapop more than all the others, and Johnny and Dally seem to have no longer that much interest in each other. Other than that, we're doing good, still no fame in this town, and no honest truth gets passed around. Socs have disappeared from jumping us, and we usually have no meaning in walking around holding a switchblade.
It's damn near Winter and it looks like Spring outside, and the breeze is still the same. No rushing. We take things slow now. Still work at the DX with Soda, and he's been complaining lately, but other than that, he's still the good old buddy that I know."Steve, stop digging in the chocolate cake," Darry glared at me, not noticing Two-Bit grabbing the cake and walking away. "Hey!" I shouted to him, but he was already out the door. I mumbled a laugh, and Darry almost broke the door down, chasing Two-Bit to God knows where. Soda was laying on the couch, his hat covering his face, and his shirt laying to the side of him. Ponyboy walked in the room, Johnny beside him. They both stared at me, then walked out the door, most likely going to the Vacant Lot, no doubt about it.
A sudden knock came at the door, and both Soda and I glanced at it. I slowly walked over, and opened it.
Your P.O.V
I was walking around town, no idea in Hell where I was, when I stumbled upon a small, yet odd house, the door opening. I hid behind a nearby trash can, seeing two boys walk out and close the door behind them. I decided it was worth a try, so I trotted up to the door, feeling a bit nervous about all of this. Lifting my hand up, I bunched it up into a ball and knocked on the door. Some shuffling noises came from inside the mysterious house, and the door swung open, revealing a tall, oddly handsome, man. He looked at me, giving me a shifty smile before welcoming me in. I looked around the place, staying close to the door, and feeling afraid to even speak. "Who are you?" I looked over at a guy who was laying down, a hat over his face, seeming to be asleep, but still awake at the same time."Y/N" Quietly spoken, yet sharply loud. "Huh. Y/N. Nice." The first guy who let me in spoke, and I felt a light blush place upon my cheeks, and quickly, I hid them with my sleeves. "Yeah." The other guy said, and removed his hat. I got a good look at his face before he sat up and walked off through a narrow hallway. I was left alone with the first guy, and his hand flung out, greeting mine. "The name's Steve. Steve Randle. And don't think you can handle me, because nobody can handle the Randle." He smiled and shook my hand. I laughed, but soon stopped after realizing how loud I was. I couldn't stand my voice, it was always so loud, and I could never understand why. I completely zoned out, and didn't even notice that Steve was laughing. Why? I didn't say anything funny. "What's so funny?" I looked up at him, and he finally stopped, looking right at me in the eyes. He responded with a shrug and gently pushed past me, opening up the door and walking out. I decided to follow him, since I really had nothing else to do. "Come with me. We gotta find Pony and Johnny." Walking up beside him, I looked away and mumbled, "Who are they?" He seemed to have heard me and looked away as well, searching the area. "Two good friends of mine." He hummed out those words a bit and almost flung himself forward after spotting them. "Johnnycakes, Pony!" Smiling, he dashed over to them, and I swear I heard one of them scream in fear. I invited myself and over, and got comfortable there.
Hey! Hope y'all are enjoying this so far, even though this is the first chapter of it. 😊 Thanks TroubleMakers101 for the awesome cover of this "book"!
