That was it, I took off without a second glance.
Left right. Left right. Left...
I reached a grassy hill after about an hour, I was lost. I didn't know where I was. Someone did though.
"Calvina."
I didn't turn around, I knew who it was.
"You followed me. I told you we were nothing more than friends and you've decided to follow me--"
"I know why you've been so quiet. Ever since I spoke to you last week." He stepped closer to me because I could feel his soft breathing on my shoulder. I turned around.
"You're not correct, Clarke. I am in love with Baizen, your best frie--"
Our lips touched. We kissed for a while as we both didn't want to let each other go. After some time, we merged into a hug and we were both so comfortable to move.
Nobody saw us. This was a soggy hill in the middle of nowhere. Our secret was safe for now.
"What the fuck." I pushed him away.
"Woah. You swore." I ignored his statement.
"We're practically siblings. My mother, your father have grown so closely of late. You know a wedding will be on the cards any day now. What are we doing."
"What are we doing?" I'm not going to lie, I felt shocked at his question. I thought he wanted to kiss me. What?!
I walked away, a tear rolled down my frosty cheek and Clarke wiped it away.
"We." I started.
"Aren't going--"
"To let this" I replied from this pattern we had created.
"Feeling, affection"
"That I have for you, Clarke--"
"And I have for you, Calvina"
"To get in the way of our lives."
And just like that, we both walked away, back home together. Neither of us spoke on the way back and I ran straight up to my room as soon as Clarke explained to Derek where we had been for the past hour.
It was 11pm before I finally shut my eyes. I apologised to mother for my unexpected outing. She slept with Derek tonight though because she and him had had an argument about how they hadn't spoke properly for the past week. He was actually angry that my mother had put her only child first and supported her when she needed it. What's wrong with Derek? What wrong with this family?
