my grandparents' house is not a place you want to be
it may be modest and charming
but there's bars on the windows
with a lock on each door
from the inside and out
it's two hours away from our southern-based home
there's an aquarium there
and i want to go with my boyfriend
but he's not around anymore
the maps in his house are ironed and glued
with dust leaving everything a year before he left it
the curtains might distract
that there are codes through the back
but at least it wasn't twenty years ago
