Suddenly, your phone rings on the kitchen counter. You went to answer it.
"Hello?"
"Hello, is this (Name) (Last Name)?"
"Yes, who is this?"
"(Name), this is, well I'm not sure if I still an considered it but, this is Nachito Oroki, you're step-father."
Your whole world was at a complete stop. You got shivers and couldn't stand still. This was the same man that left your mother for dead and hasn't contacted you ever since. You hated him so much and now since he called, you were pissed.
"What do you want? How did you get my number you, traitor?!"
"Now, now. I got it from Mirami. Listen, I wanted to talk to you about your grandmother, Hanji."
"What is it? I'm giving you two minutes to tell me right now."
"She died."
Then, at that moment, your while world was destroyed. It felt like the sword of the sudden truth plunged right through your heart. Hanji was the only mother you ever known for the majority of your life. Even though she was your step-grandmother, she still treated you like your own.
"W-What h-happened? Tell me!" You wanted answers. Your were so loud, Hanamiya heard you and grew concerned.
"Yesterday morning, she was robbed in her house. She was shot by the robber. Luckily the robber has been arrested, but grandmother's life couldn't be saved."
Every detail he said brought you to tears. Who would rob an old, helpless lady?
"I can't believe this. She's gone. I always thought that she would die a peaceful death, but I was wrong."
"Yeah. The funeral will be tomorrow night from 10 to 12. She doesn't have alot of friends in the neighborhood so this will only be for the family. I'm just letting you know cause they're will be a reading of the will as well."
"Yeah, I'll be there. Like how I was there at my mother's funeral." You hissed.
"Listen, I am very sorry what happened to your mother. I panicked and I-"
"No excuse can explain how much of a coward you really are at being a husband. When I'm at grandma's funeral, I don't want to talk to you." You hung up the phone as you gritted tour teeth in anger.
How is he going to his mother's funeral, when he didn't come to his wife's? You didn't care what his reason was, you didn't want to see him again.
"Hey, what's going on?" Hanamiya asked not caring. At least he made it seem like he doesn't. However, he does want a name of whoever you were just on the phone with.
"It was my step-father. The one I used to talk about." You told him, "grandma Hanji died. He was asking if I was going to her funeral."
"You're not going if that bastard is." He rolled his eyes, "now, where's my sandwich."
"I'm going, Hanamiya. What makes you think that I'm not going?" You asked, "she was the only one there for me than anybody else."
"I understand that, but I don't trust him or Mirami being with you. Therefore, you're not going." Hanamiya said firmly.
"It's just a funeral, I'm not going to school with them or something like that. Why can't you go with me?" You asked, "this is my step-grandmother, my second mother."
"No, I don't do funerals. Especially when I'm in this form." Hanamiya turned his head away from you.
"Please, Hanamiya. I don't need this. I was just told that my grandmother died and you're not even going to console me? You're not even going to come with me to the funeral, and not telling me why." You scolded with tears, "how would you feel if you lost a loved one and I wouldn't come to the funeral with you? Are you even listening?"
"I LOST MY MOTHER, GODDAMNIT!" Hanamiya yelled, "I DON'T WANT YOU TO SEE ME CRY. THAT'S WHY I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU CRY!" You were silent after he gave the news. You remember visiting Hanamiya's mother with him. He looks like the man version of her.
She was beautiful. Short black hair, a bang that hung over her eyes. Once Hanamiya lifted the bang out of the way, her eyes were exactly like his. You have to admit, she had a bit of low self-esteem every time you would she her. She was sweet and would always love to tell you about Makoto when he was growing up. Even show his baby pictures.
"Hanamiya, I had no idea. I'm so sorry." You apologized as you kneeled down to his cat body, "when did she pass?"
"The nighy before we broke up. The hospotal called me right in the middle of the night." Hanamiya answered, "and after Hanji turned me into a neko, I told her and she took me to see her." Your heart dropped as he told you what happened. You wrapped your arms around him and picked him up to your chest to hug him.
"I'm sorry. If you would have told me sooner I-"
"It's too late. Forget it." He jumped out of your arms and ran away from you to the door. He was able to jump up and turned the knob using his paws. He got down and ran out the door. You stood up and chased after him.
"Hanamiya, wait. Where are you going? Wait!" You called him. By the time you were at the threshold of the door, he was gone. Far as you know, you might not see him again. You might not see him again since he doesn't know how to get to your house.
Five minutes after your cat went missing, Neko Reo and Kazunari came along to visit you and you told them what happened. They nodded their heads as they went to find the missing cat. You're worried what could happen to your neko.
Where could he be going? Will you ever see him again?
