Summary From Sequel 1

Saya Aiteru was a black haired girl who fought as an exorcist. Together with her friends, Allen, Lavi, Lenalee, Natasya, Rey, and Kanda, she fought akumas. At first, she was requited as an exorcist by Allen who saw her fighting akuma with her innocence. Her innocence itself take shape as a sword (katana) specialized to kill akuma and a glasses to give her informations about the akuma, including their weakness. 

Her relation with Kanda were childhood friends. By the lotus earring Kanda wore at their first meeting, Saya recognized Kanda Yuu as her childhood friend. With that, their relation began to grow, as well as their feelings. 

At the end of sequel 1, a big akuma attack happened and Saya, who wanted to be someone useful for others fought until her last breath. She fully activated her innocence and she even sacrificed herself for the sake of her friends. At last, she was killed as she used her last power to saved Kanda. With that, she died. 

But, the story didn't ended yet. One year after her death, Saya suddenly regained back her consciousness and happened to be alive. However, she didn't had any of her memories and she couldn't remember anything about herself.
