I would have to join the organization in a week when my birthday rolls around. I might as well make the most of my free week. I decided to go to the beach with Delilah, Beatrice, Kellin, and I invited Levi too. We picked up my Mom's famous pasta salad from our house and packed into the car. Kellin was driving which meant that everyone was sick by the end of the car ride. The car pulled up to Levi's house and he definitely could tell that we were all queasy. Levi said hi to everyone and sat next to me in the crowded car. His hair looked like golden brown and his piercing green eyes shot straight through my soul. Delilah had the look of "You are falling way too hard for him." I shook off her gaze, but I knew it was still there.
"I don't know about you, but I am going to be out in the waves all day." Kellin was really good at surfboarding. "The waves are going to be wicked today."
"I am just going to be reading and sunbathing. What are you doing guys?" Beatrice looked at us and waited for an answer.
"Hey Poppy and Levi, Do you want to play volleyball for a bit?"
"Sure that is a great idea, Delilah," Levi said excitedly.
The car arrived at the parking lot and we all hopped out. Sunshine blazed down, so I grabbed out the sunscreen. Even though my family was kind of tan, Bea always made sure that we had some on. I started down the trail and took my flip-flops off. My toes touched the warm grainy sand and I took a deep breath in. I was so happy that I could just relax before my life got hectic. Kellin took his surfboard off of the car roof and we headed out to the water. Levi, Delilah, and I decided to sit down for a little bit. Delilah winked at me and she brought my chair next to Levi's. I smirked at her because she was trying so hard for us to work. I sat down and we started talking.
"So are you joining any clubs, Poppy?" Levi's brown hair seems to look blonder in the sun.
"I think I want to join the photography club."
"I wanted to do the same thing. I was in a club in my old school, so I would really like to be in the club with you. I even got one of my photos in an art exhibit," said Levi.
"Yeah, I haven't been really doing photography that much because of the whole telekinesis thing. I bought my camera about two years ago. However, I didn't smash all my windows in the process." I hit him on the arm playfully and we all laughed a little.
While Beatrice and Kellin were busy doing their own things I decided to go play volleyball with Delilah and Levi. Surprisingly, Levi was really good. Delilah and I were on a team together and Levi almost beat us, but at match point, the ball almost hit the ground when it "magically" flew up into the air and the unattended side of Levi. Gee, I wonder how that happened?
"HEY! No cheating! That is so unfair!" His face turned bright red and even more red than he was before.
Delilah burst out laughing and I joined in. You got to admit it was a pretty funny reaction from him. He blushed and then we went into the water to cool off. I felt a warm grip on my lower leg. I was so frightened that I screamed. When I opened my eyes Kellin was in the air and gasping for breath. I screamed again and he fell back into the water. I started to cry and I headed back to shore. I got to the blanket and crawled into a ball. Levi and Delilah rushed after me. Kellin was still trying to catch his breath and was slowly walking back to shore. I felt so awful that I almost hurt my brother badly.
"I never meant to hurt you. I don't know what happened I was just scared and then you were in the air. I am so sorry!" Tears flowed like a river down my face.
I was utterly disgusted in myself, but then Kellin grabbed my shoulder.
"I know you are just learning and I wanted to tell you later, but you have way more power than you know. You have way more power than me as you can tell from what just happened you can't control it yet. For being only fourteen you are very skilled, but you have lots to learn. I am sorry that I scared you."
On that note, we all went home in silence. So much for having a relaxing day at the beach.
