Chapter 5
You're ignoring me. Deluding yourself into thinking that I'll go away just because you ignore my words. I will always be here.
"That's why I'm ignoring you. I want some peace."
If you want real peace-or at least the illusion of it- then use the jutsu I taught you.
"That'd be irresponsible. You'd ruin everything I've tried to build for myself. And you don't think anyone would notice you walking around?"
I've explained that. I'll look normal. I'll act normal. I won't cause trouble, I promise. Just let me out. One day.
"Liar."
You'll regret that. I'm going to drive you to the brink. You'll rue the day you tried to disobey me. Ignorant child. I own you. I own you.

Rich red hair, sharp jawline, hard edged eyes which are eternally annoyed or sad...
Bree tried to correctly transfer as much detail of Gaara's face onto her sketchpaper. It didn't help that he continued to turn his head away.
"Gaara, stop it."
"I didn't want you drawing me in the first place."
"Too bad. Sit still, jesus."
Gaara frowned as he rested his chin in his hand, absent mindedly tapping some sort of beat on the grass.
They were sitting beneath an old oak tree, the sun adding to Bree's tan and touching Gaara's skin for the first time probably ever.
"Okay, so another question..."
Gaara groaned and hung his head.
"Last one, I promise." She signed her name at the bottom of the drawing and pressed the pad against her chest. "If you could live anywhere other than here, where would you live?"
"I don't live in the Leaf Village, I-"
"I know, Gaara. I mean if you could live somewhere other than here, other than this...world...Where would you go?"
Gaara's gaze shifted to the ground. His features contorted in confusion at the question. "I don't understand what you mean by 'another world', it's not as if that's possible."
Bree snorted at that, prompting Gaara's eyes to darken. "But if it was..." he began, "I'd go somewhere quiet. Devoid of distractions."
"And distractions categorize as...?"
A heavy sigh. "Everything. People mostly."
"You know..." Bree had been trying desperately to not use her knowledge of everyone to her advantage. Someone more cunning would have had everyone on their knees in fear of their weaknesses being exploited. But manipulating people she respected was not an option. "...Interaction with people isn't all that bad. Of course if you're not used to it, then you need to take baby steps in order to handle large crowds and...parties."
Neither of them had mentioned Sasuke's birthday party or the Seven Minutes in Heaven game. Gaara wasn't sure how to approach the subject of her putting his name back into the hat and favouring Kiba instead. And Bree still had the thought in her head that he wouldn't of wanted to go in with her anyway.
At the mention of a party, Gaara stood up. "I have to go. Temari wanted me to head over to the Konoha gates to talk something over." Even though he was a notorious slow walker, Gaara was out of there before Bree had a chance to show him her drawing.
