PART 1 || C H A P T E R I"Gah! Sasuke!!!"
Bree popped a few Junior Mints into her mouth as her eyes watched the colorful characters moving around on the screen of her tv. Sasuke had just unintentionally done something cool, Sakura was on the brink of passing out, and Naruto was internally cursing Sasuke for making Sakura fall to his heels.
"Don't worry, Naruto. I think you're cool," Bree whispered at the television. Watching the popular anime had started out as a joke at first, but eventually Bree had gotten way too emotionally invested in the characters.
For example, Gaara. The classic antagonist with a tragic backstory. He was her favorite character, for far more than his good looks(yes, there are people who think anime characters are sexy). She was drawn to his dark personality and one-tailed demon. Unlike a majority of female Naruto fans, she didn't like Sasuke that much. Actually, it would be more appropriate to say that she loathed him. Sure his sass and appearance scored a few points, but a revenge-driven personality put her off. Damn, Uchiha. Betraying his village and his I-hate-my-life-but-I'm-still-better-than-you complex.
Bree's eyes rolled halfway around the world when Sakura started blushing and giggling at something Sasuke had done. She threw a popcorn kernel at the screen then flicked a button on the remote by her bed. The screen went black.
Bree sat there for a second, and the familiar feeling of loneliness washed over her. Why couldn't she have a life like that? A powerful one, where she could become something more than a mere human. More than just a person existing. She wanted to live. Her head tipped back, and her dark brown bangs fell into her eyes.
I want to be with them. I want to be one of them. I want to be untamed and unafraid.
Her eyes opened, but unfortunately she was still sitting in her bedroom.
Now, Bree was not a person who was constantly sad. Like many people, she was just there. No big family tragedy that drove her to become an isolated individual. No mental illnesses or emotional instability. She was simply human, and all humans dream of bigger things at some point.
Bree lived in Acheston, New York. Her parents were both happily married, rich, and loved spoiling their only daughter. Bree's closet was filled with designer bags and shoes. Endless rows of scarves and sparkly belts. Miles of different styles of jeans and blouses. She had her own full sized bathroom, along with maids who made sure she never had to lift a finger. Every girls dream right?
Of course it was, Bree loved the lifestyle she had. But for some reason she still just found herself existing. Her life had no risks, no twists or turns. Everything felt too safe and sheltered. She had never had to try for anything in her life and it was just getting so boring.
Now the people in Naruto. Their lives were exciting and they always had to fight for what they wanted. Nothing was ever handed to them on a silver platter.
Bree's stomach growled and she hopped off her bed and walked across the glossy floors of her room to the door. She made her way through a labyrinth of halls until she found her way to the kitchen.
After making herself a grilled cheese, her mother walked in, her hands full of shopping bags.
"Hey, sweetie. I bought you a pair of boots and a pretty scarf I think you'll like," she said.
Nikita was Bree's mom. Bree looked exactly like her. They both had the same dark skin, short head of tight curls, and deep brown eyes. Nikita used to model when she was a teenager, but Bree thought she still could. Nikita was tall and curvy, and had thick black lashes. Bree loved her mother, and ever since she had been very little, her definition of beauty had begun with Mom.
