"Silas, Invite hunter to dinner." Dahlia rushed hurrying around the kitchen. "Ivy honey, ice the cake please."
"Okay ma," Silas said his eyes still glued to his phone. "He asked if he can bring his little girl."
"Oh course, I never knew that he had a little girl." She said smiling looking over her shoulder as she stirred her pot.
"Guys, phones down now." She frowned slightly "its a day that should be celebrated."
"What's today?" Ivy asked sucking some frosting off her finger.
"Uncle Austin's Birthday." Silas replied grabbing the supply's to hang in the backyard.
Ivy raised an eyebrow confused as to who Austin was, she looked at Silas who gave her an 'I'll explain later look'. She sighed continuing to ice the cake with the few tips and tricks she picked up from bisnonna.
He heard her phone vibrate she looked at the screen, Angelo's face lighting up the screen. She smiled answering putting it on speaker
"what's up?"
"We're almost there, unlock that door."
She hung up making her way to the gate, opening it. She looked over at Silas standing on the table hanging up the banner. she smiled slightly before looking around at the yard. She walked over to the pool, she sat letting her legs dangle in the warm water. She could hear the car pull up and doors slamming, noise that came with Carmen and her family following, Spanish being thrown through the air.
"Whhhooo!" Angelo screamed running and jumping into the pool followed by his younger siblings. James walked in carrying Krissy, who was wiggling out of his grip to run around. Dahlia walked out with Zander, as she whipped her hands on her pants.
"Oh, I missed you guys we need to have you guys over more often, especially since summer's almost here." Dahlia sighed kissing Carmen's cheek before giving James a hug and Krissy a kiss on the cheek.
"Xavier, it's been a while," Dahlia said awkwardly. "How are you? you almost off probation."
"Dahl, it's been a good while, and two more weeks." He laughed nervously sending her a tight smile.
after that Xavier headed over to the drinks and everyone else going back to the what they were doing. Ivy smiled at Angelo as she played with the little kids in the shallow.
-----
After dinner, and night had fallen all the younger kids were fast asleep leaving the teens and adult outside. The music was slower and dirtier, Ivy had noticed that Sofia and Silas had disappeared a little while ago into the house saying to get water. She sighed sipping her drink, these were the only times that Dahlia was okay with her drinking. Ivy usually didn't like alcoholic drinks but this one was just for her, the kiwi strawberry juice and sprite laced with coconut rum. the alcoholic drink that you forget has alcohol and gets you wasted. She looked at Carmen and James dancing, they seemed to act like no one was there. She smiled slightly sipping her drink. She tried swimming across the pool to Angelo who lied on his back, floating, without spilling her drink.
"Hey," she whispered in his ear scaring him. She couldn't help but laugh "sorry angel, "
"Sorry my ass, let me get some." Angelo laughed taking a gulp of her drink. "let's get out of this drab party scene."
They climbed out of the pool, water draining off them as they walked towards their towels. They wrapped the towels walking around to the front. Angelo smiled at her bumping his shoulders against hers.
"so, about last week..." He sighed "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have thrown myself at you."
"It's okay, you just caught me off guard."
"You just drive me kind of crazy." he laughed shouting the end, as they continued to walk through the neighborhood.
Ivy shook her hair, her cheeks burning red. She pushed Angelo lightly as they laughed and continued to walk.
Angel slipped his hand into Ivy's and interwinding their finger. She looked down at their hands, the rose tattoo that she had watched Angelo give himself on one of their many late nights Skype calls. The rest of their walk continued in a playful silence as they kept bumping into one another.
