Alice listened closely as she washed dishes. Some guy was asking about a girl named Madelyn. She looked over her shoulder seeing the poor guy getting punched. Alice flinched and went back to her job.
It made her sick to watch people get treated like that. "Some people have absolutely no manners." She mumbled quietly to herself.
"H-her last name is Hatter. Her family used to run the Hat shop around the corner." The man said worriedly.
Alice gasped silently to herself. She put the dishes down and walked out of the kitchen. Her long blonde hair was tied back with a ribbon, she had a short blue dress that clung tightly to her torso but spread out at her waist, she also had brown boots that tied at her ankles.
She watched silently as the drunk men threw out the stranger. She went through the back entrance and quickly found him dusting off his clothes. She walked towards him with a scowl on her face.
SMACK.
She slapped him right across the face. The man looked at her in disbelief while holding his cheek.
"Wh-why did you do that?" The man exclaimed.
"I want to know who you are and why you're looking for Hatter!" Alice demanded.
The mans eyes lit up. "Y-you know Madelyn?" He asked hopeful.
"I know Hatter." She narrowed her eyes at him. "I will ask you again how do you know my mother?"
Alice always knew that Hatter was her mother. Her adoptive family told her when she was around five or six about her mother. They explained that she ran a hat shop in the city and that her and her sister ran away. Alice connected the dots when Hatter told her how she found Wonderland.
"Mother? Never mind. My name is Adam, I need to find Madelyn." The man almost begged.
Alice took in a sharp breath. She looked down and her shoes. She knew she shouldn't help him, she knew Hatter wouldn't like this; but she needed to see Hatter again.
"Fine...I will help you, if you promise. Promise me that you won't hurt her." Alice said sternly.
She held out her hand and he took it.
She didn't say anything else, just walked. He walked slowly behind her. She was definitely strong for her size. She was short and skinny, yet can throw a punch. She certainly had features that looked like Madelyn. She was as pale as the moon, with the large eyes, and a round face. What he couldn't understand was how was this her daughter?
They never had a kid. Of course it was entirely possible that it could be someone else's kid. But judging by her age she was around nineteen or eighteen. Yes by her height and attire she looked around eleven if not younger, but her features told other wise. She had some what curves around the waist, and her face looked more mature than one of a child. If she was eighteen or nineteen it would make the most sense if he was her father.
They walked for about an hour. They were deep in the woods, it was getting dark and they didn't have any torches, how were they supposed to see?
"Stop." Alice said breaking the silence.
She walked to a pile of leaves and pushed them out of the way revealing a rabbit hole. It looked incredibly deep, with roots and stones surrounding it. There was a faint light coming through it. Without warning Alice jumped in. Adam hesitated but jumped in after her.
He fell though. Twist and turns, to the point he might have fainted. Then he was in free fall, nothing was under him until he fell in water. He continued to fall until he landed with a thump. He looked up to see Alice staring at him. They were in a large room that was wall to wall with doors
"You know, I never got your name." Adam stated while standing up.
Alice hesitated. "uh, Alice." She said picking up a cake.
She bit into it and grew. She reached out to a large table and grabbed a key and a vile. Alice drank the liquid and shrunk back to normal size. She walked over to a certain door and unlocked it.
They both walked through. Adam couldn't believe it, on one side showed nothing but red and darkness. The other was a mess of colors. He looked back at Alice, who was beaming.
"Welcome to Wonderland." Alice said happily and looked around at the different world.
