"We have to save him! He must have a reason to see Hatter!" Alice exclaimed.
"But maybe, Her Majesty has a good reason for locking him away." Charlie said while sitting on a tree stump.
His white armor shined in the sun. Most teenagers her age would think he was handsome. That, however, is not why she loved him. She loved him because unlike everyone else he did not think she was crazy.
Right now Alice was pacing the soft grass while biting her nails. A horrible habit she has taken up over the years. Her hair was down and beds of sweat coated her forehead.
Alice didn't want to believe that her mother, that the women who was always there for her, treats people like this. She had asked Charlie to tell her what Hatter has been doing to the citizens of her kingdom. He had answered truthfully, he told her about the labor, the 'examples' she had made of the people, about the taxes, even about the bets she has made with The Queen of Hearts.
"Charlie, please. I never ask anything from you. You said yourself that Hatter is cruel. Maybe he is the answer to fix everything that Hatter has do-"
"Alice my only duty is to the Queen. I could be in serious trouble if I release a prisoner with out her Majesty's permission. I'm already in danger of treason because I told everything she has done." Charlie interrupted.
The wind blew Alice's hair around her face. She stared at him intently, her eyes begging. She turned around and started to walk away.
"Where are you going?" Charlie asked.
"To get Adam, if you aren't going to help me I guess I'm going to have to do this alone." Alice said never looking back.
She knew Charlie wouldn't let her do this on her own. All she had to do was walk towards the castle and Charlie will be there to help her. Over the years she had picked up a few tricks on how to get what she wanted. If she wanted her adoptive parents to have a tea party with her all Alice would have to do is say she wanted to run away. In Charlie's case basically anything that would put her life in danger would do.
Charlie groaned behind her and started to walk. He knew somehow he would get dragged into this. 'After we do this, you're on your own'. Charlie thought to himself. He and Alice both knew that wasn't true. He loved her to much to see her get hurt.
"I thought this was too dangerous for you." Alice teased.
"Oh please, and let my poor princess face the wrath of her mother? I couldn't miss that." Charlie joked back.
Heat climbed up Alice's neck. It always got her when her called her 'princess'. She punched his shoulder lightly. He chuckled and placed an arm around her shoulders.
"Thanks..." She said resting her hea d on her shoulder.
"How are you going to do this?"
"To be honest, I have no idea. I do, however know that he is Hatter's weakness. We can use that against her." Alice said, full of determination.
