We're All Mad Here

Chapter 7

"Hello?" Alice called out as they walked to the end of the hall. 

"Alice?" Adam said with hope. 

Alice turned the corner with a large smile. She brushed some of her hair behind her ear. The look of excitement took over her face as she ran to his cell. She dropped to her knees holding on to the bars. 

"What are you doing here?" Adam asked looking at Alice with confusion. 

"I came to get you out!" Alice said while reaching behind her hair. 

She pulled out a bobby pin of her hair. A large chunk of hair fell at her shoulders. She twisted the pin in a weird angle and jammed it into the lock. The rusty lock clicked as Alice twisted the pin. She blew a piece of hair away from her eyes as she concentrated. Finally she heard a loud click and the lock opened. She tore the rusty metal away as she opened the cell. 

She laughed as she looked at him. Adam was confused. She looked at him like she was a long time friend, like she actually cared  About him. She wrapped her arms around him. Adam froze but slowly hugged her back. 

"Sorry to stop this love fest, but we should hurry." Charlie said sternly. 

Alice rolled her eyes as she pulled away from Adam. She turned around and bounced toward her grumpy boyfriend. She looped her arm with his, he rolled his eyes at the action but didn't pull away. 

Adam stepped out of the cell in a hurry. He walked towards the couple and nodded his head at Charlie, singling that he agrees they should hurry. AS they turned to leave Zada spoke up. 

"Wait! take me with you and I'll help you get to the Queen. I was a thief so I can get in and out of places easily!" Zada pleaded with the group. 

Alice went to let her go, but Charlie grabbed her arm. She groaned as she turned around. He shook his head at her, but she tore her arm from his grip. She walked towards her cell and unlocked the cell. 

Zada stepped out and walked towards the group. She smiled at them as they walked briskly towards the exit. 

The outside light made them wince as they walked out of the prison. Zada led them to safety. Away from guards and into a small shack near the boarder of Wonderland. They stepped inside and was imeadiately greeted by a large family. The family consisted of a couple of small children, a dog, two teenagers, a man who looked around 50, three boys who looked a little older than Zada, and a boy who looked younger but not as young as the teenagers. The small children tedtackled Zada as they laughed and giggled. 

Once Zada was finally free she turned to her new friends. "This is my family. My father , Mekhi, age . My three older brothers, Ahmet age 37, Calix age 36, and Rhett age 35. My younger brothers, Bodhi age 23, Rhys age 15, Ebo age 14, Zeke age 9, and Niko age 8. My younger sisters, Araceli age 5, Uhura age 4, the twins Fara and Simi age 3, and....Dad where is Clea?" Zada asked her dad when she couldn't find her youngest sister.

No sooner did she say that a baby walking very clumsily came into the small living room. Zada smiled with praise as she picked up the small child. "Well look who learned how to walk!" She smiled at the giggling baby. She put the child on her hip and looked around the house. Her looking was disrupted as a dog tried to climb up her leg. 

"Oh of course I couldn't forget you!" Zada said as she pet the dog. "This is Neri our vicious guard dog." Zada stopped petting the dog and looked around the three bedroom house. 

"What are you looking for, Zada?" Araceil asked with big eyes. 

"Mother." Zada looked down at her. 

The room fell into an uncomfortable silence as her family tensed. Mekhi walked to his daughter with a look of deep depression on his face. "Zada.....uh....There was a...an accident and.....well....your mother...didn't make it. Zada your mother is dead." 

Zada's face fell. She put down her baby sister and yanked on her hair. She started to hyperventilate. She ran outside and Adam followed. Her eyes glowed a bright white as she fell to her knees. A sob tore through her throat. She screamed til  her voice was raw. As she screamed the ground around her tore up. Grass, dirt, and rocks flew out around her. A circle of nature formed around her circling slowly as she cried. She let out a loud scream that a deaf person could hear. As she screamed the nature around her flew out in different directions. 

Her screams turned into whimpering, her sobs into silent tears, her eyes back to their normal grey. Adam sat next to her and looked at her with sympathy. She started to cry again, she fell against him grabbing onto his shirt as she sobbed again. Adam hesitantly wrapped his arms around her. 

"I lost my mother when I was young....so....I uh...you know undestand." Adam said trying to make her feel better. 

"She was my best friend. She and I did everything together. I can't believe she's gone." Zada said hugging her knees. She looked at the necklace around her necklace. "She gave each of us a note and told us don't read it until we lose her. She made one when Clea was born. For those who didn't turn five yet she made them ahead of time."

"Are you going to read it?" Adam asked her. 

"Yeah..." Zada said sitting up. She unlocked the necklace and a tiny piece of paper fell out. 

Zada's eyes glowed again and the paper grew to a normal size piece of paper. She took a deep breath and looked at the paper. 

My dearest Zada,

Will you hld me while I die?

Will you forgive me when I don't say goodbye?

My only request that I remain in your heart.

Even when we part.

Give me life as I leave. 

Just don't grieve. 

Kiss me once more. 

Not to make you sore. 

Though I stayed quiet.

Hope i didn't start a riot. 

Tell me now before I leave.

How you fell for me. 

When I go today. 

Help me stay.

This my dear is what you will say to the man that claims your heart. Save it for a special time. I love you my Zada. Never forget me. I'll see you one day. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me.

Say this to the man who claims your heart? Zada rolled her eyes. She knew she would never get married. She crumbled up the paper and made her eyes to glow. She burned the paper and made her eyes go back to normal.
