    [ Chapter 2 : Celebration or Argument? ]

                        Present Day: Kid

"Hey. You look even more down than when you destroyed something that was perfectly symmetrical." Soul says, walking up next to me. I was standing on the lookout of Shibusen.

        "Nothing's wrong." I answer, forcing a smile.

"Stop it. That smile is creepy as heck."

        I stop smiling. "Nothing's wrong." I repeat.

"Liar. I see it on your face. You're depressed about something."

"I'm not. Really. It's just... nothing. Never mind."

"You stupid...! Look, spill it, or I'll hurt you." Soul says, sighing. He looks at me like he already knows.

"Kid-kun..." Tsubaki says from behind me. She is pretty much dragging Medea behind her.

"What do you want?" I ask, looking away. Why am I being so rude?

"I don't want anything from you!" Medea shrieks.

"Then why are you following me?" I ask negatively.

"Tsubaki dragged me here! Don't talk to me...!"

"Oh, Medea-san! Come on..." Tsubaki says.

"Hmph!" I see Medea turn away as much as she can from the corner of my eye.

"Well, if you don't want anything, then hurry up and leave." I say, staring at the moon.

Soul elbows me in my shoulder. Hard."Stupid!" Soul yells.

"Ugh." I turn to her, bending down to her eye level. I hug her. "I'm sorry. Please don't leave. I didn't mean it, any of it. Are you okay?"

"... I... love you, Kid...!" She says, hugging me back. "I love you so much!"

        "W-wuh...?"

        "That's so cute...!" Tsubaki squeaks.

"Blegh." Soul says, sticking out his tongue.

        "Soul-san...!" Black Star's weapon scolds.

"I'm just sayin'...!" Soul raises his hands in defiance.

"Hey, Soul-- um... Oh..." Maka says, walking out to the balcony where we all were.

I gently nudge Medea to let her know that a new person. I suddenly feel warm tears sinking into my suit, which surprises me. Medea is crying. She never cries.

"Medea! What's wrong?" Maka asks, concerned.

Medea quickly wipes her tears and says, "N-nothing... I, uh... tripped... and fell... yeah..."

While Maka is talking to Tsubaki, I lean in and whisper to Medea, "That was a pretty lame excuse."

"You wouldn't have come up with better!" She whispers back.

"Yes, I would. You could've said that--"

        "Whatever...!"

"Yeah, so Medea-san... You're all right, yes?" Maka asks.
