Chapter Eleven (Remi's POV)
Scary thing, passing out.
There's no dreams. No nightmares. No memories.
Just pure darkness. I felt like I was wrapped in thick black velvet and I would never get untangled from it. It felt like forever when I heard this strange sound. It took me a moment to realize it was breathing as I focused harder on it.
Gentle, soft, maybe just a bit shakey, breathing.
I wanted to open my eyes, but my eyelids felt so unbelievably heavy. It took so much effort to force my eyes open and even then, my vision was blurred as I tried to get the feeling back in my body. What was that? An out of body experience or something?
As soon as I got my feeling back, I regretted it. My back ached something awful and there was something tight wrapped around my torso, gauze maybe? One of those cheap never work weight-loss things? I didn't need to loose weight.
What the hell was going on?
My vision finally focused in and I found myself staring up at the ceiling of my bedroom. I blinked a few times to make sure it was really there. Wood plated ceiling with matching walls. A strange scent filled my nose. It wasn't dirty laundry or beer or cigarette smoke.
It smelled...
Clean.
Warm.
Soft.
I tilted my head to check the alarm clock, then froze when I realized where the soft breathing was coming from. It hadn't been me- I snored and Ty had no qualms about reminding me every morning.
Lying right next to me was the most beautiful angel in the world. His hair was so blonde, it was almost white and it hung in straight locks against the pillow and side of his face. His slightly darker lashes created crescent shapes against his light pink cheeks. He had a slender, smooth hand tucked under his head and the other was draped on his side.
He was wearing a snug gray and black striped tanktop and tight black jeans that hugged his figure nicely. He smelled sweet, but uniquely warm at the same time. I recognized the scent as a were leopard.
He was a were-leopard and he was lying in my bed.
He looked so peaceful just sleeping there, I didn't want to wake him up. At the same time, I was having issues sitting up. My whole body ached and I felt weak, tired. So, I just lay there, studying him.
"Kyler..." I murmured, lifting my fingers to try and touch his face. My hand felt so heavy. I let it drop on his cheek and he grimaced a little.
"I'm not leaving, Scythe..." He grumbled. I raised an eyebrow, then took a deep breath as I forced myself to roll over. Pain made me hiss past clenched teeth as I rolled over to face Kyler. He looked peeved at being woken up until he opened his eyes and saw me.
"Scythe can't make you leave." I said. Kyler stared at me for the longest time, like he didn't know what to say. He looked petrified and stunned with relief at the same time. I stroked his cheek, my thumb brushing under his eye because I knew what was coming next.
I could see the red traveling across his lower eyelid, the tears gathering in the corners of his eyes.
"Morning." I greeted.
"M-M... Morning? Morning?" Kyler managed to ask.
"Or is it the afternoon?" I asked, perplexed. There was sun in the room, I assumed it was around ten in the morning, maybe eleven. How long was I out for? I couldn't even tell. Kyler just stared at me for a moment longer, then sucked in a deep shuddering breath before looking at me angrily.
