Emily

"Emily! Your alarm has been going off for the last ten minutes!" My eyes shoot open as I hear my mother banging on my bedroom door and the loud alarm echoing off of the walls.

I groan and sit up, pressing the dismiss button. "I'm up," I say groggily, rubbing both my eyes. I hear her footsteps walk away from my door as she disappears down the hall.

A small yawn escapes my mouth as I reach over and grab my phone, for some reason being more tired than usual.

I press the home button and furrow my eyebrows, seeing two messages from Jenna. I quickly slide my thumb across the screen and go to her contact.

from: jenna
> wtf Emily

from: jenna
> why did your psycho of a boyfriend show up at my place?

I blink rapidly, trying to see if I was just picturing the messages. The thing is, I wasn't just imagining them, those messages were really being displayed on the screen beneath me.

My fingers quickly move against the screen, going to Jacob's contact.

to: jacob ❤️
> what did you do?
> why did you go to Jenna's house?
> I swear to god, Jacob.

A loud sigh leaves my mouth as I finish sending the messages and turn my phone off, swinging my legs off the side of the bed and stand up.

"What did he do?" I mumble to myself, running my fingers through my tangled hair.

I walk over to my closet and grab two random hangers, not at all caring about my appearance today. I look down and see I had grabbed a white hoodie and my black adidas joggers. I strip from my current clothes and put the new outfit on.

Just as I reach for my black vans, my phone starts to buzz from my bed, distracting me. I hurry and walk towards my bed, picking up the phone to answer the call from Jacob.

I press the lime green button, holding the phone up to my right ear.

"Morning babe," His familiar voice greets me. I sigh and lay back, looking up at the ceiling.

"Morning," I answer back simply. There is a brief muffled sound before Jacob speaks up again.

"Look, about last night, I didn't do anything stupid, I promise." He assures me, making me nod my head although he can't see me. "I just told Jenna not to worry about us anymore,"

"Maybe she had a point," I say quietly, closing my eyes.

"What?" Jacob voice distracts me from my thoughts, causing my eyes to open again.

"Nothing," I answer, sitting up. "I should really finished getting ready, I'll see you soon." I say before hanging up, not waiting for a reply.

I take a large breath before putting my shoes on and lace them up. I grab my backpack from the edge of my bed and swing it over my shoulders.

"Emily!" My mother yells from downstairs. I roll my eyes from annoyance and shake my head.

"I'm coming!" I yell back. "Jesus Christ,"

I hurry to the kitchen where my mom and dad are both sitting at the kitchen table.

"Morning hon-" My mom begins to speak before completely stopping mid sentence. I give her a confused look and slightly tilt my head to the side.

"New hairstyle?" She questions nervously, taking a sip of her coffee.

"W-what? What do you mean?" I pull out my phone, holding it out and look into the reflection.

I sigh when I see the tangled mess, going in all directions.

"I'll go fix it," I turn around, I make a good two steps before my mother speaks up again.

"You have no time," She says, causing me to turn around.

"What am I supposed to do then?" I hold my hands out. She softly chuckles and shakes her head.

"Guess you'll have to do it in the car," She responds, trying not to laugh more than she already was. I roll my eyes in response.

"I'll be waiting in the car," I say before storming off towards the front door.

-

"Have a good day!" My dad shouts before speeding off.

"Yeah, I'll try." I mumble under my breath and turn around. I begin to walk towards the front entrance until I hear a voice from behind me.

"Gates!" They yell, I turn around and see Hunter with his same goofy smile. I can't help but smile, his being contagious.

"Yeah?" I question, turning back around as we're now walking side by side.

"I can't just walk with you? Wow," He looks over at me and shakes his head.

"I'm sorry, bad morning." I roll my eyes at the thought of it.

"What's wrong?" Hunter places his hand on my shoulder, causing me to look over at him.

"Jacob went to Jenna's house after I begged him not to," I sigh once again, looking down at the ground beneath us.

I hear Hunter nervously clear his throat, "Oh."

"Yeah, oh well I guess." I say as we enter the front doors. Almost immediately my eyes find Jacob as he's talking to another one of his friends. His eyes find mine right away as he quickly makes his way towards Hunter and I.

"Babe, I'm sorry." Are the first words that leave his mouth as he pulls me in for a hug. I sigh and lay my head against his shoulder once I realize he wasn't going to let go.

"What happened?" I ask him, closing my eyes. His hands trail up and down my back as he has yet to explain.

"Nothing happened, Emily. I just told her not to poke her nose in our business anymore," He says as a mumble. I shake my head and pull away from his embrace.

"But she's my best friend, Jacob. Best friends are the nosey type and that's because she cares about me," I explain to him, looking up into his eyes.

He softly nods his head, "I understand." He says barely audible. I softly smile and get on my tip toes, planting a kiss on the tip of his nose.

"I love you,"
