Chapter 24:

Calum's POV

I was still trying to decide whether or not I should tell Sierra or not. She deserves to know the truth. Obviously she thinks that Luke and Kayleen are dating but that's not the case. Should I tell Sierra though? Should I tell her that Luke was only trying to make her feel jealous?

I was only trying to make things better because I hated to see Luke and Sierra not talking to each other. I get that it was none of my business and sooner or later they'll sort it out themselves but in the meantime I feel like I'm that friend in the middle of everything who has to witness the awkwardness between Luke and Sierra.

Before I knew it, I had picked up my phone to call Sierra. I took a deep breath before tapping the "call" button. She answered on the second ring, "Hello?"

"Hey Sierra! It's Calum."

"Hi Calum...is everything okay?"

"Uhh, I just wanted to let you know that- are you doing okay?"

I couldn't do it. I just couldn't.

"What?" She asks, sounding very confused.

"Are you okay?" I repeat. I couldn't do it. I didn't want her to find out through me. Luke would kill me. This wouldn't make things better, it would probably make things between Luke and Sierra worse.

"Yeah...?" She says slowly, sounding confused once again. After a long pause she asked, "Why are you asking if I'm okay?"

"Um...I was just wondering..."

"Is this about Luke?" She asks slowly.

"Uhh...yeah..."

"Look Calum, I appreciate that you're worried and that you're asking if I'm okay and everything but trust me, I'm perfectly fine. I deserve this. I'm not mad at Luke for ignoring me like this. I understand why he'd do this completely. Even though I want us to be normal again, I know that we can't anymore."

"You can, you will," I say, getting anxious about this. "You two will make up soon enough and if not, you'll be friends soon enough. I know Luke."

"I broke his heart Calum, I was cheating on him." Sierra says from the other line. I could tell she had started crying, her voice sounded broken.

"Can I ask you something?" I waited for her to reply but there was no sound so I just asked her the same question I asked Luke earlier. "Do you still love Luke?"

"Yes, of course. I love Luke more than anything. I will always love him, no matter what."

Michael's POV

I walk into school with Calum and we were greeted by Emma and Kayleen.

"Hey babe," Calum says and gives Emma a quick peck on her lips.

"Hey! Hey Michael," She says with a wave of her hand.

"Hey," I reply. I thought about it, and I think I'm going to go with the fact that I don't like Kayleen. How could I like her? She's luke's "moving on" girl - which I hated the idea of.

"Hey," She says giving both Calum and I a sweet smile.

I roll my eyes at her and shake my head. I'm definitely not going to pretend that I like her because I know for a fact that I don't.

"Excuse me?" She glares at me with one eyebrow raised.

My back was facing her and I was buried into my locker. I turned around and give her a blank expression, "What?"

"Uh, shouldn't I be the one asking 'what'?" She says. She tries mimicking me when she says what but she happened to fail. I roll my eyes at her again and turn back into my locker.

"What is your problem?" She asks.

I opened my mouth to answer but Luke came up to us holding onto the straps of his bag, "Is everything okay?"

"Yeah." I reply smugly, glaring at Kayleen.

Calum and Emma - who were busy making out to the side - joined us.

"Hey Luke," Calum says, opening up his locker.

"Hi." he replies. He turns to Kayleen and flashes her a smile. "Hey Kayleen."

She smiles at him, "Hi Luke."

I roll my eyes at them and turn back to face my locker, closing it shut. I could hear Ashton's voice coming towards us and Sierra and Taylor talking back and forth. I finally got what I needed and closed my locker. The bell rings and I let out a sigh of relief. If Ashton, Taylor, and Sierra had walked up to us it would've just been plain awkward. Every time we're together as a group, Sierra and Luke never talk to each other. Its really awkward for the rest of us but there's nothing we can do. If they want to sort themselves out by not talking to each other - and Luke moving onto Kayleen (ugh) - then that's how it's going to be. Not the best decision those two have made, but I guess I can do nothing but be a friend...to both of them.

I walk into History and sit in my usual place at the back of the class next to Tesh - who I have to admit, is really hot. Well...my kind of hot. She has dark hair with blue eyes that I find myself getting lost in everyday and a lip piercing. She's beautiful. Usually most teachers let us choose where we sit but my History teacher decided that seating plans were necessary. Now normally I would be very upset, but when she told me that I was sitting next to Tesh, I didn't mind at all.

"Hey Michael," Tesh smiles at me as I take my place next to her. She takes a strand of her brown hair and tucks it behind her ear.

"Hey," I reply simply, flopping down into my chair. I put my books down on the desk that we shared and got everything I needed.

Tesh always had a black bracelet on with little pink studs on them. I watch her play with the studs until she looks up at me and notices me staring at her.

"You okay?" she asks, laughing. She lets go of the stud that she was playing with.

"Yeah, sorry," I force out a laugh and look past her shoulder to the person sitting next to her on the next desk. It was only then I realized that the girl who was sitting there was Kayleen. She looked like she was doodling on her book. Her pen was moving slowly in her hands. Her bottom lip between her teeth and her perfectly trimmed eyebrows - not that I know what girl's eyebrows were meant to look like - were knitted together.

Ms Chanel (when I first joined this school I used to think that she was the only person who we were allowed to call by their first name but I later learned that Chanel was actually her last name) stood in front of the class with her arms crossed, waiting for our class to quiet down.

"Take your seats class, hurry up," she says impatiently with her arms folded. She talked about our little project that we had to do in partners and everything. After about ten minutes of talking about the project, Ms Chanel says, "And I've chosen your partners for you." I immediately scan my eyes around the room looking for anyone I hate. I managed to find about ten people before Ms Chanel kept talking. She read out our partners: "...Camille and Aleesha, Andrew and Micayla, Gabby and Lewis, Michael and Tesh-"

As soon as she said my name aloud, I let out a sigh of relief. I was with Tesh, I couldn't be happier. I smiled at her and she returned a big smile.

"Oh wait...sorry Michael, no, you're actually with um...Kayleen! Oh yes, yes. And Tesh you're with Luisa.

My face fell when she said my name with Kayleen. I looked over at her and she smirked at me.

Well this is going to be good...

*****

I was at my house, Kayleen had come over, and we were working on our History project. We both had different ideas and neither of us were willing to do the others ideas. This was not helping.

"Fine! Whatever, we'll do your idea," she gave in, sighing. "I can't believe I'm stuck here on a Friday night with YOU."

I drop my pen, "Does it look like I want you to be here? You could just leave and I wouldn't care, I really don't mind failing one little project in History. It's not exactly an assignment so its not that important...not that I actually do my assignments.. Which is why I have no idea why I agreed to this."

"Fine," she starts packing up her things and stands up. "I'll leave."

I let out a sigh and rub my eyes. "No, its fine. Come back, we can do this and you can go." Rolling her eyes, she sits back down again with her arms folded across her chest.

What is wrong with girls? They're so dramatic. Especially Kayleen. But I don't know, after spending the past two hours with her, I can see why Luke likes her. She's not too bad I guess, she's just a normal girl who happens to hate me. I'm just a normal guy who...has changed my mind about her.
