" Clara..."
" That was embarrassing Sylvannes! What was he thinking? Even Lance saw that! What must Lance think of me?" Clara's words were muffled as she kept hiding her face in her hands, with her tears rolling down her cheeks.
" It's all okay my dear.." Rachel's soft voice calmed her. "You liked Gus anyway right?"
She looked up at her mother, he cheeks still wet " I did but... I don't know mom! It's complicated.."
" How so honey? Tell me all your troubles" she hugged her trying to comfort her as much as possible.
" Because... Because prince Lance told me that he loved me right after our dance. I .. I was so happy.. " her words were faint,"then Gus had to kiss me in front of everybody!" she screamed in frustration.
She sighed. Her mother and Sylvannes were equally shocked but kept their comments to themselves.
" Mom, Sylvannes... this will sound rude but, could you leave please?" Clara whispered. Rachel nodded as she hugged her one last time before the both of them left.
Clara leaned back on her bed letting out a sigh. Her world was spinning. She felt, anger, frustration and sadness run in her veins. She kept looking at the ceiling of her four posted bed trying to figure out her way out of it when there was a knock on her door.
" Clara..." Gus's voice whispered, his voice filled in guilt.
" May I come in to apologize? Please?"
Clara didn't move. She kept looking at the ceiling and answered, "Gus I.. I don't want to see you right now.."
she paused.
" And I don't want you to apologize either. If you really want to,you can apologize to me once I can face you again. You are just going to have to wait.." her voice was cold and emotionless.
Silence.
" Okay.... I'll wait for you then.." he paused. " I was asked to meet the Prince and.. he told me that he had already..." his words stopped before he continued, " I apologized to him and he let me go.. I will talk to you later then.."
Clara didn't answer. She was too mad to say anything.
" I will go now.. and this time.. I won't wait in the corridor.."
She heard his footsteps disappear in the corridor. She let out another sigh. She had imagined everything to turn out wonderful at the ball, now she lay on her bed with tear stained cheeks and a anger for Gus which she feared that might not ever fade for what he made her go through.
There was another knock on the door.
" Come in.."Clara mumbled hoping her mother or Sylvannes would enter.
The door clicked open and Lance walked in, " Clara.."
She shot up from her laid down pose, shocked at the sight of him not knowing whether to beg for forgiveness or cry for depression.
" Lance I ... I didn't mean to.. I didn't know.. I ... I had no idea..."she stuttered coughing up all sorts of words she wanted to tell him. She felt annoyed as her eyes filled with tears again.
He shut the door and sat next to her. She couldn't look at him but she felt his arms wrap around her for a hug. Her head was on his chest and she could hear his heart beat. She felt her own heart settle down. She felt his hand stroke her head. She hadn't felt like this since Gus hugged her.
" It's okay, I know you didn't mean it. Everybody else knew that too. It was in your eyes. It was just Gus." he spoke.
Clara closed her eyes as her thoughts replied,
