five; a quick warning

I trotted into the kitchen around seven thirty, hoping my mom would be awake, having breakfast cooking so I could eat early and avoid Blue and his 'friend'. I was relieved when I noticed her by the coffee pot, the eggs already cooked, ready to be eaten. When I stepped through the doorway harry was leaning against last night during our conversation, the floor creaked under my weight, catching my mother's attention. "You're up early," she stated. "Going somewhere?"

I shrugged as I leaned over the Island. "No."

"Then why are you awake so early? On a Saturday especially," she pauses as her smile grows. "And after a whole week at your new school?"

I let out a sigh as she turned again, this time waiting for me to answer her directly. I hesitated, trying to hurry out an answer she would believe, but I noticed her expression change. "Is this about Grayson?" When the word Grayson left her mouth, I'll admit, I was slightly relieved. I wanted anything but for her to mention Harry. I don't know why she would, but that's mainly the real reason I'm up so early. I don't feel like seeing his face after our conversation last night.

Then again, I could never get tired of looking at him. Despite his attitude, he was breathtaking. Just because I didn't like him, doesn't mean I would lie about his appearance. And if you take away the douche act he puts on at school, sometimes he isn't too bad. Like last night, when he apologized for saying I was conceded. Then again, he probably just said that so he could leave and get away from me. But even at school, sometimes he would have this look on his face, almost like he was concerned, not to anyone directly, but he seemed to care, at least a little bit.

I decided to play along with my mother. "Nah," I said, almost sarcastically. "I'm just up so I can eat a good breakfast. I'm going to go look around some and get used to the stores and places around here." I told my mom, her eyes never leaving mine. Finally, she pushes her weight from the island, her eyebrows raised in disbelief. "Alright."

I waited patiently, my mind filled with so many thoughts as she placed some eggs in front of me, before handing me a spoon. "Thanks." I muttered quietly as she sat down beside me.

I loaded some eggs to my spoon as I plopped them into my mouth. I sat in silence next to my mom. I never found our silence awkward in the least. I was the most comfortable next to my mom, because she understood me, despite when she was embarrassing me, which was usually on accident.

"Hey mom." I heard in Blue's voice, and I almost choked on my eggs as I laid my spoon down quickly. I jumped off of my stool and laid my plate in the sink. I don't know why I'm so jumpy around this boy. It's this feeling that I'm always going to do something stupid, and I'd rather just avoid seeing him as much as possible. "Hi Blue," my mom said from behind me. I just stood in front of the sink as I rested my hands on the countertop. I then rushed to find a cup in the cabinet.

"Can I use your car?" Blue questioned as I turned to open the refrigerator door, barely catching a glimpse of Harry and Blue as I collected the carton of orange juice. "I suppose, where are you two going?" Mom asked, and I twisted the lid from the carton, before pouring some into my glass.

"Harry's going to show me around some, get to know the town and find out where everything is." I heard from my brother's lips.

I returned the lid to the orange juice carton, before placing it back into the fridge. When I took my cup from the counter, my mom's words left me frozen in my tracks. "Elodie was going to do the exact same thing, why don't you all go together?" I almost dropped my cup, but luckily caught myself before turning around to face her.
