thirteen; a letter she never wrote

I rolled my eyes for the millionth time since seventh period started. All class, I've felt Natalie watching me and then looking away whenever I would look back. I've even asked her a few times already if there's anything wrong, and she's said no. I can't take it much longer. She's going to pluck the last damn nerve in my body.

The bell was a literal life-saver. I stood and watched Natalie leave, her steps close behind Harry as she walked out behind him.

I slung my bag over my shoulder and unzipped my lunch box, taking out my water bottle, before taking a sip. I listened to Mr. Lenin telling us all to make sure we did our budget project over the break soon so we wouldn't have to do it all at the last minute, even though everyone was almost gone by now and doing things at the last minute was our speciality.

Grayson chuckled at how Mr. Lenin was trying to yell at some of the students that had already left, his body in the door frame.

I followed Grayson after playfully chucking along with him. We passed Mr. Lenin, giving him a quick goodbye. He was very relaxed, compared to other teachers around here. He was still uptight sometimes, but majority of the time, he would tell stories and tell us jokes, which was better than just stating plain, boring facts about money.

While walking alongside Grayson, I decided to make conversation, since we were silent almost the entire walk to the front doors. "How have you been lately?" I asked.

I could hear him try to hold in his laugh, but I caught him smile when I glanced over

I could hear him try to hold in his laugh, but I caught him smile when I glanced over. "Alright, I guess, what about you? You seem way more tense lately." His comment made me wonder if I'm really worrying and making a big deal over Harry.

"I'm fine." I lied.

Maybe it was just my hair in my peripheral vision, but I swore I saw Grayson just stare at me from the side as we left the school, our feet scraping the pavement of the stairs that led to the parking lot.

My stomach turned uncomfortably when I noticed something I hadn't seen in a long time. Natalie was standing by Harry. She looked concerned, and he looked extremely pissed off, and before I could look away, his eyes suddenly met mine and I could've sworn he became angrier at the sight of me, which I was confused by.

I cleared my throat as I looked back towards Grayson. When I realized I hadn't talked to him in a while either, I felt like deja vu was in rope form, wrapped around my neck to suffocate me. It felt like the first day again, and I definitely didn't want that.

"You sure you're okay?" Grayson asked again, and I assured him I was before wishing him a goodbye, and walking towards my brother's car.
