Dad huffed in annoyance when I sat down in the backseat next to Blue. Today, Harry was going to the police station once more to talk to one of the detectives who requested to speak with him again. Dad didn't want us to come, but we decided to ask Harry instead of him, and Harry said it was fine.We kept quiet while dad pulled out of the driveway.
Harry was sat in the front, extremely quiet. Blue and I exchanged looks every once in a while.
We knew dad wanted Harry to be alone going through this, and having dad was very old fashioned, he wanted us to always respect everyone's privacy greatly. But today, we knew we both needed to be here for Harry, no matter what.
We arrived at the local police station. My eyes glanced around at the police cars in the parking spaces next to us.
I stepped out, Blue following behind me as I followed Harry. His steps weren't brisk like they usually were. He was pacing himself as dad approached the door, holding it open for each of us. We each walked into the large room.
The feeling I got when I walked in gave me chills. The knowingness that criminals have walked down the same hallway, and maybe serial killers. Rapists. I shuddered uncomfortably while I tried not to think of it that way.
There was a front desk sat to our right, and to the left was a large room of chairs, I'm assuming to wait. And then a few doors scattered around in different places, probably leading into different offices.
Skimming over Harry's tall shoulder, I noticed a man in a suit walking our way.
"Harry," the man said. "Thank you for coming in again," the man's eyes darted over to dad as he nodded politely. "James."
Suddenly, I locked eyes with him, and dad laid his hand on Blue's shoulder. "These are my kids, Blue and Elodie, they're friends of Harry's, he wanted them to come." His words are rushed, and the detective smiled blankly. "I'm Detective Arthur Holmes."
I nervously looked down before Detective Holmes led us all to his office. It was through a door to the left of the waiting room, and inside, down a small hall, was his office.
Inside, there was everything typical you'd see in an office. A desk, stacked with papers, a computer, a file cabinet, and even a tall coat rack in the corner. There was a total of two chairs in his office, but a bench against the wall, which Blue and I took advantage of, staying silent.
Arthur began to speak to Harry, while I listened, my eyes trailing around the office. "Dave Monroe's case does involve you, obviously, so the date of court, you'll be required to be there." Arthur stopped and I noticed him turn his computer around.
