Chapter 5: The Light.

MaCaron walked away, carrying a pouch in her mouth that contained the crystal she had just bought. The light gray birraccat flew back to the castle, the night wind brushing past her fur. She walked into the castle, and walked down the stairs to the caves. MaCaron, being one of the last Birraccats to register at the castle,- was not able to get a bedroom in the Rose community in the castle. She slept in the caves under the castle instead,- with the Quartz community.
The pitter patter of Birraccats feet filled the dim space under the castle- loud chatter echoing off the walls. MaCaron walked to the end of the 10th hall, and flew down a small hole in between rocks. The Birraccat then reached a secluded hall, and went deeper. She then found her cave room and went in, the vines full of roses over the entrance kissing her fur. As she lay down on her cloud bed, she took out the crystal from her pouch. MaCaron examined it carefully, her eyes darting in different directions. She sniffed the crystal, and licked it afterwards. The light gray Birraccat reached out her paw, and was about to touch the object. "MACARON- DO YOU HAVE MY CLOUD DUST-"
MaCaron groaned in annoyance from being disrupted, and looked at the Birraccat across from her.
"nO I DO NOT STORMY,-IM BUSY SO-"
MaCaron pushed the other Birraccat out of her room, and put a shield spell over the entrance to her little cubby. MaCaron went back to her cloud bed and accidentally stepped on the crystal, she was surprised that it didn't break, but it did take her someplace else.

Anguis had woken up the next morning with a small jolt, her tail almost instinctively tightened its grip on the crystal. She tapped her dull golden claws on the stone floor and almost immediately the torches along the high walls where lit with purple flame. With her den now illuminated she examined the crystal. The Serppanus fire made the crystal shine purple and its surface was smooth to the touch. It had appeared cloudy but clear all at the same time. She gave it a sniff before setting it down on her bed next to her. She thought for a moment and then decided to keep it with her. She reached up with her claws and tugged on her black velvet collar and dropped the crystal into a pocket in the collar. She sniffed the air a few times and a metallic smell hit her nose.

Blood.

She coudnt eat now, so she ignored the tempting feeling and stood up apruptly. She walked towards her dens entrance and slipped under it. She sniffed the air and the metallic smell was coming from above, not below where the feeding rooms were, so it coudnt be food. Slowly Anguis began to walk towards the long hallways entrance to the main one. The smell leading upwards grew stronger and anguis followed its scent which lead towards the smooth escalating stairs upwards. Anguis was suprised no Serppanus where about. But then again it was feeding time. She Reached the highest level where the smell was stronger then before. Picking a random tunnel, she ran through it and climbed upwards.
She climbed out from the tunnels hole, which was out from a tree, the night air blowing past her fur. She smelt something from under her claws and looked down. It was blood, and it began to trail down the branches of the tree to a fox den under the tree infront of hers. She slowly climbed down from the old tree and it was then that she noticed the high whimpering that came from the little den.
She slowly advanced towards the sound and the metallic smell was sickening even to her. She took a step and flinched as a branch broke from under her. Almost immediately a small white Serppanus lunged out from under the fox den and pounced on Anguis. With him pinning her down she snarled and grabbed his head before shoving the small Serppanus off and tackling him. Anguis snarled in his face and it was then that she noticed the fearfull red eyes of the Serppanus under her. What was it he was named?
"Libidine," Anguis hissed under her breath, and got up off of him. He got up and sat down and it was now that Anguis noticed the pooling black blood that dripped from his underbelly. Anguis lowered her head and looked at the wound, five large claw marks where slashed across his belly. Libidine whimpered as she shuffled back from her.
"who did it?" Anguis hissed as she stepped closer. The white Serppanus whined as he ducked his head down.
" I-Invidia did it.." he said in barely a whisper. Anguis snarled at her name which sent Libidine back a foot, trembling with fear at the Anguis who loomed over him. Anguis reached out her paw to Libidines wound and he didnt flinch back. Her eyes began to glow purple and Libidine winced as he felt the bloody gashes closing. Anguis's eyes returned to normal as she stepped back from him. Libidine touched his belly and exhaled softly as he didnt feel a thing. His ears flicked up and he whined.
"I-I hear her.. I-I got to go... T-thank you!" he called as he quickly bound past her towards the tree entrance she came from herself.
Anguis stared at the tree as she turned around and began to walk. She stopped and reached a claw down into her collars pocket, as soon as her paw had grasped the crystal itself. Her vision went white.
