BECAUSE PARK JIMIN MADE ME CRY LAST NIGHT WHEN I WAS READING A FANFIC

Jimin's admiration for Penelope only grew more each day. She began to avoid and he knew the reason why. His friends hadn't failed to mention it. So he suddenly backed off, only waving at her in the hallways if she ever looked at him. Penelope looking at Jimin was rare. She wanted Jimin to stay away from her because having someone pay attention to her was not something she wanted. If one paid attention, then the people they were involved with followed. And she didn't want that. When she'd look up momentarily, breaking her eye contact with the floor, and immediately meet eyes with Jimin; she'd blush at his smile and wave. It was unusual to her. She didn't wanna believe Jimin felt a specific way about her. Penelope didn't wanna believe that there was a part of Jimin that might... like her? No. It was ridiculous. She didn't want to believe the impossible. Jimin was probably waiting for the perfect time to make fun of her.

Jimin didn't think anything when she'd ignore him. Talking to his friends, he'd expected this. Of course, they didn't know Penelope but assumed this was one of many ways to react. He knew Penelope only wanted him to stay away so she wouldn't feel pressured. He didn't want his cupcake to become spoilt. He wanted her to stay sweet and plump.

He didn't stop himself from seeing her from the height of the bleachers. She was just too intriguing. Her sweat made her glisten like a pearl in broad daylight. The concerned mochi couldn't help but run his hand through his newly dyed brown hair and watch as her pale complexion became abnormally... white. When she'd look into her eyes for a split second, he'd notice how hollow she seemed. There was that light missing in her eyes. The light she had when she wasn't running or taking a rest. The light that was so rare to see in her eyes. The light he had become used to seeing in her. There were also signs of her slowly becoming weaker. Penelope wasn't the most hardworking girl but she also wasn't a slacker. She had begun to fall asleep in class and seemed sleepy more often. At times, her stomach would growl but luckily no one noticed.

But he did.

And he couldn't help but think that Penelope was starting to go down a path he was too familiar with. He observed for the next couple of weeks, watching her every move. Her stomach growling in his first class was an obvious sign she had been skipping breakfast, but the sound wasn't loud enough to say she was completely starving herself. He looked for her during lunch but found her running, even though her gym period is before lunch. Her steps had become heavy and she struggled more with running than when she'd begun. Penelope couldn't last more than a minute without stopping and bending over to catch her breath. Her lungs would become heavy and something blocked the passage of air. She'd get a pain in a part of her lung and made breathing a painful action. She had concentrated on her breathing more than running but that pain remained. She tried eating to apples, wondering if maybe that was the case; her lack of nutrition. It was, but two apples were less than the average intake she needed. He followed after school and watched as she forced herself to run faster but only succeeded in shortening the time she could stand without feeling like the world was closing in around her. Jimin watched as she began to sway she ran and quickly skipped down the stairs, jumping over the railing of the bleachers and landing on the track surrounding the football field. Penelope began feeling lightheaded and felt the world disappear from under her feet.

He tried his best to reach her before she collided with the ground was only able to grasp her arm. He didn't know what to do. It was almost 5 and the nurse was most likely gone. He lifted her said and tried to get Penelope to react but all she did was moan. Her eyes would flutter when she tried to close them but something told her not to. Taehyung was walking by the track after his tutoring session, searching for Jimin when he saw him carrying an unconscious Penelope towards the gates leading to the parking lot. His eyes widened and he let his mouth hold the lollipop he was sucking on. "Dude what the hell—"

"Not now. Take my keys and drive me home." Jimin turned to him and gestured for Taehyung to pull the lanyard that hung out of his pocket. Quickly Taehyung did as told and took his friend home. They quickly arrived and Jimin was glad his mother wasn't home to question his motives. They quickly walked to Jimin's room. He grunted as he slowly set Penelope on his bed. "Dude, isn't she heavy—"

"No," Jimin mumbled. She was but Jimin was too concerned to care about her weight. He just wanted her to be okay. "Make some Ramyeon please." He asked his friend. Running across the hall to the restroom to grab a towel and fill a bowl with water. "Shouldn't we call Yoongi—"

"Not until she wakes up." Jimin couldn't control his breathing and tears pooled in his eyes. He grabbed her wrist and realized how cold she felt. "Is she okay?" Taehyung asked, concerned for the really pale looking girl. Jimin bit his lip, sniffling slightly. "Yeah."

"Why does she look so weak? It's almost as if she hasn't eaten in days." Jimin gulped and let his head fall into the mattress. She obviously hadn't but he wouldn't reveal that to his best friend.
