Vampire.
The word echoes in my head as I look at the white and gray tiles of my shower wall. As warm water calms down my aching skin and sore bones, salty tears escape my eyes blending in with it. I had done something wrong but everyone kept telling me it was okay. They kept telling me I wasn’t a monster.
I shook my head.
No I deserved the pain. I was a monster and I won’t listen to anyone saying anything different. I killed Zack.
But….
He tasted so good.
My mouth salivates at the very memory of how good he tasted on my tongue. My body tingles in anticipation at being able to do it again. My mind is telling me I’m a bad horrible person but my body…it long to do it again. I’m not sure if that justifies my feelings or negates them but I can’t help my reaction to it.
More. More. More. More.
I turn off the shower as the water begins to turn cold and wrap a fluffy white towel around myself. The wide mirror above the sink is fogged over and I use a hand to wipe it off.
I gasp at my own reflection.
The dark purple circles under my eyes are gone and my once pasty pale skin is now flawless like porcelain. My plain brown eyes seem brighter with a sparkle of a predatory gleam in them. My lips are now a bright pink like I’ve been biting them instead of a waxy flesh color that always seemed to blend in with the skin of my face. I look...healthy.
Did Zack’s blood do this?
Vampire.
Yes, it would appear that it did.
She’ll never be sick again.
Was that true?
Did drinking blood really cure me forever?
I open my bathroom door with just my towel on and squeak when I see the dark haired guy sitting on the edge of my bed looking at me. His black piercing eyes are intense as they take me in as I awkwardly stand in my towel. His marble hands form into fists as his nostrils flare but his eyes still don’t disconnect with my wide eyed confused ones.
“W-what are you doing in here?” I ask.
His eyes narrow a bit. “Is that your idea of a thank you?”
“A thank you?”
He rose to his impressive height. I was a tall girl but he’s at least a head taller then I am. “I made sure you were safe. Your change from half-breed to full blood must have been painful. Did it hurt as bad as it looked?”
On cue I felt my heart flare up in pain.
“Ow.” I state dumbly clutching my chest. “Did you do that?”
“Something like that.” He says circling me like a predator.
The burning subsides and I glare at him. “How did you know I needed help?”
“Call it a hunch.”
“Are you trying to be annoyingly vague?” I snap.
He chuckles, its deep and makes my stomach turn into a zoo. “Perhaps.”
