It’s been a week since I left Kale in that alleyway. Seven full days. His black eyes filled with pain as they looked at me have been haunting my dreams and nightmares. When I came back I didn’t want to think about Natasha or the very real possibility that the coven weren’t far away from coming for me.
Though, it was merely a matter of time now.
So I just go about my day like anything else. I sleep a lot during the day. I can’t go outside and reading just makes me sleepy anyway. It strikes me as odd that when I used to never be able to sleep I know can sleep for days without waking up. Mom says it’s just a sign about how healthy I am now.
Oh and how thankful we should be to Kale.
My parents are big Kale fans. So you can imagine the panic attack they had when Kale didn’t come home with me that night. I had to assure them that he left of his own free will, though in reality I had all but banished him from my presence. Still, this seemed to be a suggestion to him.
Whenever I leave the confines of the house to feed I can feel his eyes on me. I know it’s him from the goosebumps and humming anticipation in my mind. My eyes long to see his form. My tongue craves his blood. My body yearns for his to be near mine. My ears cry to hear his smooth velvety voice.
It’s like every nerve ending inside me is made to stand at attention at the mere idea or suggestion of him. It was admittedly pathetic but I figure it couldn’t be helped. Kale stays his distance though. He never speaks and I never do actually see him but I know he’s there.
I’m out at another nightclub tonight. I can feel his eyes on me as I enter but I can’t feel him inside the club. As soon as I walk into the building my shoulders slump in relief. Its tense knowing you’re being watched let alone by the hunky object of your desire.
I’m dressed in a red skintight velvet dress and my black motorcycle boots. When you’re my height heels are just a no, no. That is unless you’re going to lure a man from the local giant convention. Ah, tall girl problems. My hair long blonde hair is braided and hanging over my left shoulder showing off my long pale neck. It’s a subtle message of temptation to Kale.
I know he wants me to bite him as much as I want him to bite me.
No, no more thinking about Kale. I’m hunting now. I need to focus on being alluring for a regular mortal. One that smells nice and tastes fantastic, that is something worth focusing on. I saunter up to the bar and order a drink. Due to my height and demeanor they all assume I’m of age and I always get served.
I’d complain if it didn’t help me with the façade of being a regular human female.
They get drunk at clubs don’t they?
Sipping on my drink I lean against the bar and scan the place before me. I’m hoping to meet the eyes of someone who is interested. It doesn’t take long to find one. He is older then I usually feast on but he is also alluring to me. His ice blue eyes meet mine with such intensity and want that I can feel my fangs elongate just looking at him. His intensity seems to be the trigger for me.
I want to devour him as much as he wants to devour me.
It’s a foreign concept to me since my only experience with men was my wanting to drain them dry or be pushed away from a mysterious reason. Being wanted and wanting in return was strange but thrilling. He moves towards me like a predator but without the grace I’m used to. He smiles like a wolf about to devour a rabbit.
