"It's open." I replied after hearing Carla knock on my door. "What's up?"
"How are you holding up?" she asked.
"With what?" I wondered what she was asking about.
"You can't hide much from me." she chuckled lowly. "I'm talking about Noah."
I stared at the floor of bedroom and put the scissors down because I had been scrapbooking.
"I miss him." my head nodded. "He was good to me."
"Then talk to him." she nudged.
"I don't want to hurt him." my voice cracked.
Carla put her arm around me and I rested my head on her shoulder. I wanted to cry. She slowly rocked me back and forth and then whispered again, talk to him. She stayed for a while longer and when I got myself back together again, I nodded. Carla stepped out of my room before I could thank her for comforting me.
I grabbed my phone, went to his contact, and dialed. Pacing around the room from nervousness, the phone continued to ring and then voicemail. My pacing stopped at the sound of his voice and then I decided to message. In the text, I sent, call me. Just then, another knock on my bedroom door.
"Yes?" I asked.
"Bella has called a meeting at the Cullen's house." Carla informed.
We arrived not long after everyone was gathering around Bella and Edward who stood at the stairs. Carlisle and Esme greeted us as we entered and we, too, stood amongst them. Bella began speaking, talking.
"You all know what I want. And I know how much I'm asking for. The only thing I can think of for it to be fair is to vote." She stated.
Edward murmured something, but Bella only told him to shut up, causing Alice and Luca to smirk. Bella asked for Alice's vote, Alice without a doubt said yes and hugged her. Jasper also said yes, but then Rosalie said no. Emmett voted a hell yeah, and Esme voted yes. Our family voted yes as well.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Edward asked. "You know what this means."
He clearly wasn't satisfied with our answers. Before leaving with Bella, she mentioned that she'd wait until after graduation to make it easier on her father Charlie. I only thought of how it would hurt him in the future. That man had gone through so much ever since Bella moved in that I almost regretted my answer. But saying yes meant we wouldn't have to do protection details. We relaxed at the Cullen's house for a while, and I spoke with Alice while Luca spoke with Jasper and Emmett.
"I called Noah on the phone earlier, but he didn't answer." I told her. "I also sent a message, but nothing."
"Do you-" Alice gasped and stopped speaking causing Jasper to run to her side.
"What's wrong, what do you see?" Jasper questioned.
I stared at him and then at her back and forth. The others gathered around.
"There's a café, it's Noah..." her voice trailed. "He's out in the rain, he's-"
I was too focused on what Alice had been saying to notice Edward came back, but he ordered her to stop talking.
"He's what?" I freaked. "Alice, tell me!"
I felt Luca holding onto me by the shoulders, causing me to only freak out more. Alice looked at me with a sorrowed look and shook her head. angered and afraid, I pushed Luca off me, but before escaping, Emmett held onto me.
"Let me go!" I shrieked.
"What's going on?" Nicola whispered to Edward. "What's happened to him?"
"Someone bit him. Alice couldn't see who." Edward whispered.
I panicked and reached for my phone, calling Noah again and hoping he'd answer. I only reached his voicemail once more. Carlisle then demanded I call his parents to see if maybe he was still home and if they could prevent him from leaving to the café. I called his mother, and when she answered, I almost lost it but regained myself and asked if Noah was home. I shook my head. He had left fifteen minutes ago.
"Where was the café?" I asked Alice. "Quickly, where was it?"
"I'm guessing it was in Port Isabelle, but you can't stop it. It's already happened." She replied.
"I can stop it. He's not changing by some random vampire." I declared and stormed off.
Luca, Emmett, Rosalie, followed behind, while Edward was before me. We found the café after I smelled his blood and dropped to my knees at the pile of blood being washed away. Rosalie stood by my side, and they inhaled, and then took off.
"He's gone." I cried.
Weeks passed after that night. The guys were unable to find him, and they had searched far, but to no avail. Noah was reported missing the next day, search parties had been formed, and then his funeral after we planned a scene so his parents could morn instead of wonder. I was losing my mind after several weeks, but one day Angela came by my side and she helped.
She helped me get back on my feet, clean up, and start college applications. College helped me take my mind off Noah, momentarily. I thought of what college he'd be going to, what he'd write in his essays, nights of studying with him. I spent a good amount of time hating myself for ignoring him. All that was left of him was the scent of his blood, but it didn't trigger me. I didn't want to find him to get a taste, I wanted to find him to hold him...
I planted this smile on my face, but the only one not fooled was Luca who held me when I would cry at night. After Noah had gone missing Luca broke it off with Natasha. So, like in the beginning, it was just Luca and I. Luca also played a huge amount in getting me better.
