My Best Friend *a Sam Golbach fanfic* (COMPLETED)

Natalie's POV

It's been two weeks since we went to the carnival. Sam has been a bit distant and it's scaring me. I was currently laying in bed on my laptop writing on Microsoft Word. The door opened and Sam walked in and came over to me.

"I know, that I've been a bit distant lately. But I have been busy planning something." He said. I shut my laptop and put it to the side and sat up and looked at him. "I wanted to give this to you." He said and pulled a bear out and handed it to me. I smiled and grabbed it.

"Thank you." I said. He smiled.

"You're welcome. I seriously thought you were gonna hate me." He said.

"Sam, how could I ever hate you?" I asked.

"True. Now I have something planned for us tonight." He said. "Around 8 or 9." He said.

"Which is?" I asked raising an eyebrow.

"I'm not gonna tell you. It's a surprise." He said causing me to groan. He knows I hate surprises.

"Fine, fine." I said. He sat on the bed with me.

"Just wear something like nice." He said. I nodded. "Are you hungry?" He asked. It was like 2 in the afternoon.

"A bit." I said.

"Alright, I'm gonna go make us something to eat. C'mon." He said and got up. I got up and we walked downstairs.

"Oh, look. It's the lovely couple actually hanging out." Colby teased.

"We aren't together." He said before walking into the kitchen. I followed. If only he knew how much I like him, if only he knew. I sat on the counter while he made lunch for us.

"So, how nice is nice exactly?" I asked.

"Something comfortable yet nice." He said. "Just make sure the outfit includes open toed shoes." He said. I nodded just being confused like always.

We were on our way to wherever the hell we were going. I was dressed in a purple dress that has a black belt around the waist, a pair of strappy sandals, my hair straightened and a beanie. The dress went to mid thigh. He pulled up to the beach and I looked at him.

"We haven't been to the beach since you've been here." He said.

"Okay, so why am I wearing this instead of a bathing suit?" I asked.

"We aren't going swimming." He said. I nodded. "Put this on." He said handing me a bandana.

"Uh, as a blindfold?" I asked.

"Yeah." He said. I put it on as a blindfold. I heard the door open. "Do you trust me?" He asked.

"Course." I said.

"Good, step out of the car." He said. I got out of the car with him helping me and he shut the door and led me somewhere. Soon enough I was feeling sand under me. We kept walking until he came to a full stop. "Keep your eyes closed till I tell you to open them. Okay?" He said. I nodded. He took the blindfold and I kept my eyes closed. "Alright, open." He said. I opened my eyes and saw a table and two white chairs. It was a nice set. We sat down and I saw there were two glasses of soda, two plates of chicken Alfredo pasta, garlic bread and flowers in the middle.

"This is so beautiful." I said. He smiled.

"Glad you like it." He said.

"I love it." I said. We started to eat. I went to grab a breadstick and I saw a box. "What's this?" I grabbed the box and looked at him.

"Oh, open it." He said. I opened it and saw a necklace with an 'S' on it. I looked at him.

"Sam." I said. "It's beautiful. I don't know what to say." I said. He smiled. "But uh, why are you giving me this?" I asked.

"Right." He said and got up and came over to me. I watched him. He basically got on one knee. "Natalie, we've been friends since for like forever. I have started to like you for a long time. We've gone through thick and thin and we have always been there for each other when the times were tough. You are absolutely amazing. I don't know where I would be without you. Natalie, will you be my girlfriend?" He asked looking up at me.

"Of course I'll be your girlfriend." I said. He smiled and kissed my cheek and put the necklace on me. I smiled to myself. He sat back in his chair and continued to eat. I went back to eating and smiled.

We had been at the beach and we had eaten and talked and now we were walking along the shore. He was holding my left hand while he held his shoes in his left hand. I was holding my sandals in my right hand.

"Sam, it's been an amazing day." I said turning to him. He turned to me and smiled.

"I'm glad you had a good day." He said.

"It was all thanks to you." I said. He smiled and leaned in and it started to rain and he pulled back. I sighed a little and we walked to the car. We got in and he started it.

"The rain just had to ruin it." He muttered causing me to giggle. He smiled and drove off.

I cannot believe tonight happened. I am so unbelievably happy.
