"Coming, mom!" I yell, dragging my two bags from my room to the door. My mom and I live alone together, and we're a little bit poor. We live in an apartment building in Ninjago City. My mom wiped a tear from her eye.
"My little baby is all grown up," she whined.
"Grown up to know who my father is?" I asked sweetly, a question I've pestered her with since it occurred to me it was strange to have no dad. She shook her brown, wavy hair out.
"Not quite, honey," she replied. I groaned. Who was he? I just needed a name! I began humming to a song I learned on the piano, which I made up myself. I hit a high note, and shattered a glass cup. Oops. I ran to it and threw away the shards before my mom could see it.
My mom turned back and hugged me. "I love you," she whispered.
"I love you too, mom."

I was running to the train station, and handed my ticket in just in time. I jumped onto the train to my new school and sat down, panting.
I pulled out the one poster I had, which had Cole, Jay, Zane, Nya, Lloyd, Wu, and Kai. The ninja wore their masks, holding their golden weapons. Lloyd had fire in one hand, lightning in another, rocks at his feet, and ice shards right behind him. Nya was in her samurai costume, and Wu held a bamboo staff. Man, they were all so cool. Now, the age of the ninja has ended. I sighed and rolled my poster to put it away. Much sooner than I had expected, the train stopped. I looked up, and saw what should have been a palace.
"Welcome to boarding school!"
