I still wasn't hungry, especially since Thomas shocked me so bad. I ran to the classrooms quickly. I checked a list for Sensei Garmadon's classes. He taught seventh grade on Tuesdays. Aka, today. The list for seventh grade said:
8:00 - Math
9:00 - Social Studies
10:00 - Health
11:00 - Science
12:00 - L.A./English
1:00 - Music
2:00 - Study Hall
3:00 - Art/Tech. Ed./ Student Success Planning - Every other week
Ok. So, no too hard to follow. I went to my dorm again. It was only 7:30. It was a long walk from the cafeteria to the classrooms, so that explains how time went by so fast.
I ran up the stairs into my room. I ducked my head under my red bed and pulled out my suitcase. I shuffled around for some school essentials. I found a pencil, black pen, notebook, folder, and ruler. I pushed the case under my bed again, and then got up to dust off dirt and grass from my sweatpants and sweatshirt. I dashed back to the classrooms, with minutes to spare!
I looked around to see my fellow classmates. I saw Terra braiding Katrina's black and gold-specked hair. Thomas was hanging out with a group of basketball players. He turned for a second, and Thomas's blue jersey read: Jogging 67. Jogging must be Thomas and Terra's last name! He turned, smiled, and waved at me. I blushed and waved back.
I kept searching the room. There was Crystal, by herself, sitting patiently. Her only giveaway to her impatience was her fiddling with the gold and white snowflake-dragon charm.
But where was Lily? She seemed really nice, and the closest thing to a friend besides Thomas I've had since I came to this school.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped a little, stood up, and turned around quickly. Lily! She was wearing her usual all-black outfit, and her hair was in a ponytail again.
"Good to see ya," she said happily.
"Haha, you too!" I exclaimed. We didn't get to talk much before Sensei Garmadon walked into the room.
"Good morning math class!" He welcomed us cheerily. "I hope you have found your way safely here." We all mumbled in agreement as Lily sat down next to me. "Good. A quick reminder, it is not required that you attend every class every Tuesday, but it is much appreciated. Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today," he reminded us hastily. "Your grades will be higher, and you will be filled with knowledge beyond compare."
The math class groaned, especially from 'you know who one and two'. Crystal remained silent though. She sat in the very back with no company at all. "Why are you upset about learning?" Crystal asked. "I, for one, am very excited to learn what this excellent school has to offer from such a wonderful teacher."
Everyone snickered. Comments like 'kissup', 'geek', and 'know-it-all' were thrown around. Crystal looked very hurt. Thomas, Lily, and I all looked to each other, and we knew what we had to do.
"Hey, leave her alone!" Lily shouted.
"You should all be grateful for the chance to be here," I called out.
"No one makes fun of Crystal on my watch!" Thomas added angrily.
We walked to the back of the room in unison with our stuff, and we all sat around Crystal. The class was shocked.
"You, the three of you, should be very proud of yourselves for sticking up for Crystal like that. Perhaps you should stick together. As for the rest of you," Garmadon addressed the class, his eyes sweeping over the room. "You should be ashamed for your inexcusable behavior towards a classmate excited to learn." Garmadon gave Thomas, Lily, Crystal, and I one last approving look before turning to the board. Terra and Katrina snickered. We ignored them.
"You stood up for me," Crystal stated. "But why?"
I answered, "Because we couldn't let you go down like that."
"But I am still in my seat, I did not fall."
If she can't figure it out, nothing we say is going to change anything.
"Anyways, thank you," she said with a smile.
"No thanks is needed," Lily spoke gently to the quiet and shy girl.
"Yeah, we're in this together!" Thomas said almost too loudly. A few people looked at us strangely.
"Either way," I wrapped up the conversation. "From now on, we always will have each others backs."
