Adonis Pov

I sent Ares birthday presents and letters. I fell asleep in class twice before mid terms, but still managed to ace them all.

I was supposed to meet Naomi some time this week, and I'm also supposed to meet Adonis.

I decide to head home for winter break. "Adonis!" My mom greets me.

I smile and bring my things inside, cleaning up my worn in room.

"Hello?" I say into the phone.

"Hey girl! How are you and Mr. Morgan?" Naomi says.

"There is no us ..."

"What?"

"He went off when he found out about Ares and he got cancer and -"

"What? We need to talk in person soon. I'll be there as soon as this Durham traffic clears. Wow ... oh yeah, Ree and them want to hang out soon too."

She hangs up while I think about these last few months. Morgan is fine, for the most part, and has been undergoing treatment. Me and Ares grew a relationship from scratch, and I'm wearing the ring.

"Adonis, someone's here to see you."

I go downstairs and see Ares. He cut his hair off and is in full uniform. I let a few tears flow and hug him.

"I missed you so much ..."

He kisses me . "There's still something you should know about. "

A little boy steps out behind him. The boy has smooth caramel skin, a curly fro, and had dark brown eyes. "Are you my mommy?"

My heart dropped.

"Adonis, meet Zeus. Zeus, this is Miss Adonis, she's not your mother."

I gasp at the kid. He was a split image of Ares. "When were you going to tell me about him?"

Ares Pov

I know I should have told Adonis about Zeus, but I haven't seen him in years. He's 2 1/2 years old, his mother left when she got pregnant and a month before I came back today she told me he existed. She gave him to my mom six months ago, so I doubt he remember who his mother is.

"Can I come in?"

"Yeah, sure..."

I step in and Zeus bounces behind me.

"I literally just found out about him a month ago, Adonis."

"You didn't tell me!"

"I knew you wouldn't talk to me if I told you I had a kid. Zeus' mother left me after we did our thing around 3 years ago and didn't tell me she was pregnant. She dropped him off right after I deployed with my mother."

She sighs. "Is there anything else you should tell me?"

I look at her hand. "You're wearing the ring."

"Yeah, what about it?"

"You're wearing it. Would you take it off now that you know?"

She watched Zeus dance along to cartoons. "No."

"Daddy, daddy! Look!" Zeus pointed at some Looney Tunes. I smile. I let him watch Space Jam while we talked.

"Daddy sees." I turn back to Adonis.

"There's something else. I have to go off to another country in about March. I need someone to take care of Zeus. " Her eyes stretched. "Look, I know you're not obligated to taking care of a child you just found out about, but I need you to. I don't trust my mother to raise him. Or my grandmother. I want to know if your mother could -"

"Adonis, won't you introduce us?" Her mother said.

I smile. "I'm Ares Smith. This is my new son , Zeus. "

"Hi!" Zeus smiled at her then turned back to Michael Jordan.

She smiled.

"Ma'am, could you do me a tremendous favor? I know that you just met me, but I leave again in March. I need someone to take care of Zeus for me. I can pay you for it."

She nodded and hugged me. She said something to Adonis and left the room.

"Daddy, Daddy!" Zeus comes up to me during a commercial and puts his head through the crook of my arm. "Daddy, I got a secwet!"

"What's that?"

He giggles. "I wuv youuuu." He blows a little noise.

I almost cried. He has only known me eight hours.

"I love you too."

He walked up to Adonis. "You have hair like me." He sits beside her.

She nods.

"You're brown like me."

She nods.

"Pwetty. I like her daddy, can we keep her?" He stands on the couch to kiss her cheek.

"Why are you cwying?"

"No reason, people just cry sometimes," she says.

"Don't cwy, " he wipes her tears. "Te amoooo." He hops down and watches the rest of Space Jam. I look at Adonis and realized what I've really been missing.
