After a bit of silence the prince finally calmed down and managed to look back at Marshall, inspecting his expression for a moment before speaking again. ".. you are alright though, aren't you?" He spoke in a softer voice, just wanting to make sure that Marshall really was fine. He knew that the other had to have had something bother him, since his condition after coming back admittedly wasn't the best. Marshall looked at him for a moment before nodding, deciding that the truth would be the best option. "Yeah, I'm fine now. I wasn't the best before but... I think I'm alright." He said to him, earning a nod of approval from the prince. "Alright. That's a good thing then... Uhm. I forgot to ask, but do you actually eat any normal food? I know you tend to like the color red, but I wasn't sure if that had anything to do with your eating habits, and I don't want to keep you from eating; if something here is available for you." Gumball said and Marshall just shrugged. "I can eat actual food but it does not do much for me in the way of heath and adequate sustenance." Marshall replied calmly, earning a small laugh from Gumball. "What?" Marshall said, looking at him in confusion. "Oh nothing. Your vocabulary just randomly shifted, that's all." The prince replied, smiling a bit. This caused Marshall to laugh quietly. "I suppose so.." he mused. Gumball shifted farther up onto the bed so he could lean against the headboard, allowing Marshall a bit more room on the bed instead of having to sit at the end. ".. Marshall.. I've been meaning to ask.." Gumball started, though paused for a moment as he attempted to figure out how he wanted to word his question. "What exactly... what is it that you've done all the years you've been in charge of your kingdom?" Gumball finally said. "I mean.. it doesn't exactly seem like it would be ran similar to how things are here... and it doesn't seem that too many people are fond of you either... So I guess im rather curious..." he said quietly. Marshall had made a small face but quickly corrected it as he thought for a moment. "... no. I suppose it isn't ran the same. Not even remotely close.." he muttered. He couldn't really think of any subtle way to state how his kingdom ran, but he just sighed and decided to continue. "... to be honest with you, I really don't 'run' things.. at least not anymore. Most of them seem to have forgotten that I even still exist.. it's been a long time since i have spoken to any of the people in my kingdom, and none of them have bothered to find me. I don't live in the castle that is in the middle of the kingdom, to be honest. Perhaps that is why they don't know I am there.. but still... your kingdom seems to appreciate you. So that is a good thing." He said, slightly changing direction with what he was saying, in an attempt to make it sound less depressing than it probably was. Gumball didn't say anything for a moment, and Marshall didn't have the courage to look him in the face. After a minute Gumball just shifted a bit and reflexively gave the other a hug. Marshall stiffened up a bit at first, unsure on what to do exactly, but Gumball spoke before he could really do or say anything. "I'm sorry.. I hadn't known that, at all... maybe if I had-" he started but marshal cut him off. "You couldn't have done anything. It's been this way for a while, and honestly I prefer it to be.." Marshall said, though it wasn't entirely true. Gumball had let him go, and sat back again, a light blush across his face as he sat there. "Maybe, but I still wish I had known.." he said softly but then continued ".. but I can understand why you hadn't mentioned it."
