Gumball hadn't spoken much after Marshall had left the castle. It took him a few days to even bother speaking to the guards, and a couple weeks to speak to anyone else. He was sure his kingdom was worried, but he only told them not to worry about it. That he was only busy, and needed to think to himself for that time. Even if talking again, Gumball didn't honestly like to interact with anyone for a while. It wasn't the same as talking to Marshall. It didn't keep his attention at all, and he found it particularly hard to concentrate while in meetings with others from different places about his duties, and especially the marriage he was supposed to confirm, or deny, rather soon. After some time had passed, Gumball managed to relax into a numb state and go about his normal buisness again, even if rather emotionlessly. Marshall all but moved to the back of his mind as the next couple of months dragged on. He hadn't seen nor heard anything about the vampire who had saved him from that wolf... but in a way he was glad. He didn't need any more distractions. He'd finally made the decision to join the other kingdom by marrying the princess, even if he wasn't honestly happy about the arrangement. He could pretend for a while. He needed to make her happy, and for now, a courtship between the two had started. Gumball played it off as if he wasn't one to talk too much, and just simply said he only enjoyed her company and how passionate she was about things when she spoke... so in turn he didn't mind only listening. She seemed to enjoy that answer... in the following weeks, they started to prepare for the wedding. The news got around, in turn causing them both to receive many gifts and congratulations from those in and around the kingdoms. Gumball put on a rather convincing show, trying to convince himself that he should be happy for her sake. Eventually he got lost in the act, and wasn't sure anymore why he had even been upset in the first place. Marshall was only a distant friend in his mind, for now. He had saved him, and in turn Gumball took care of him until he was well. He felt like it was a fair trade, and maybe his guilt was only that he hadn't said goodbye. {pov shift} eventually the word got around to marshall's kingdom, that the pink Prince had a new fiancée. He hadn't heard the news himself, but overheard a few of his people talking about is as they passed by. Marshall had simply been wandering the kingdom ever since he left the prince's side. "... I suppose he should be happy then. He made the decision, as I told him to.." he murmured to himself. He hadn't spoken a word to his people, and only left his home when necessary... but that necessity seemed less and less needed now. It was the middle of the night when he had found out that the prince had been engaged. He honestly couldn't say he had a reaction to the news, just as he hadn't really remembered what he'd done since he'd left the prince. Everything was a bit of a blur, and he knew he was a bit unstable as of recently. He hadn't felt the need to feed on anything for a long time.. even if he knew it was necessary, he didn't feel hungry. He was on edge, but didn't have the energy to flip the switch and go off on anything. As he got back home, once the sun started to rise, he noticed there was a letter taped to the door of his house. He wasn't sure who would've had access to it, but he didn't feel like questioning it. He took it down and went inside, staring at it for a few moments just to even realize what it was and who it was from... it was a wedding invitation, sent by those in charge who were helping the prince set up the party. He only continued to stare at it before only dropping it to the ground and going to lay down for the day. The wedding was scheduled rather soon.. and in the late evening to accommodate those who couldn't be out during the day. He wasn't sure he was even going to go... not yet at least, but if it would make the prince happier.. maybe he would. There would be time to decide, after all.
