"Can someone tell me where the hell Derek is," Ryan asked. Since returning to the train station, her alpha had yet to show his face.
"I think he took off after the kanima, with Scott and Stiles," Boyd responded.
"Ok, great, so he'll kick our asses for not helping him on top of us getting beat by Scott, again," Ryan groaned.
"Hey, I didn't get beat," Boyd retorted," You three did," he said, pointing to Ryan, Isaac and Erica.
"A little help would have been nice," Erica scoffed.
"I was just listening to Derek," Boyd defended.
"Ok, whatever, it's not worth it," Ryan tried to stop all of the betas from getting physical with each other." Let's just wait for Derek to get back and report to us about our next move."
"Since when did you become the voice of reason," Erica said, arms crossed over her chest.
"Since I'm the only one with some fucking common sense. Just because we have these abilities doesn't mean we need to confront everything with fists flying."
"She's got a point," Isaac said," the two times we've tried that, we got our asses kicked."
"We need new strategy. I propose we work smarter, not harder," Ryan said. All the other betas nodded in agreement.

Gerard and Chris Argent sat in their car by the club where Scott and Stiles had tracked down the kanima. Chris had gathered some information and reported back to Gerard.
"Seven paralyzed. Rumor is drugs, hallucinogens. Witnesses say they saw a demonic creature on the dance floor."
"Now who would believe something like that," Gerard said.
"You know what I'm having trouble believing, how you just stood there while that thing circled you. Want to explain that to me?"
"Intuition."
"Then you know what it is."
"I have a suspicion. And if I'm right, it plays by certain rules. Rules that don't bend easily."
"Do we need to put a hole in Derek to figure it out?"
"Not necessarily. Tonight's the first time you've had a glimpse of him since Kate died. Am I right?"
"Unfortunately."
"And the only other tie we have to him is Isaac Lahey and Ryan Bender."
"What are you thinking,"
"That if this thing bothers Derek enough to take him out of his hole, we might have a chance. What did I always tell you about how to eliminate the enemy?"
