"Why, Derek we have been at this for hours," the blonde werewolf complained.
"Because you asked me to teach you and I'm doing it," her alpha responded.
"Okay but don't you think I could use a break? I mean I already learned how to control my shift and some combat. I'm good for now."
"You're not going to say that when you have hunters coming at you in every direction with wolfsbane bullets."
"That's a issue for another day," Ryan responded.
"This it what I don't understand about you, Bender. You adapted so well to becoming a werewolf and you just barely give a shit," Derek yelled at her.
"I know, it's just one of my many talents," Ryan said and Derek scoffed.
"So," Ryan changed the subject," who's next on your list?"
"What do you mean," Derek asked.
"Ya know, who are you gonna bite next. I, uh, know a few things about wolves and I do know that they travel in packs. Plus you did say that by biting me, it can make you stronger," Ryan replied.
"You are correct, but I just need to find the perfect candidate," Derek said.
"Want any help with that?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, it looks like you are collecting the island of misfit toys and I happen to know all the misfits in Beacon Hill," Ryan said.
"Well who do you have in mind?"
Ryan thought for a moment, then replied," Isaac Lahey."
"Honestly, that is a good choice. I have been keeping tabs on a few kids and he's one of them."
"Oh that's goo- Wait, keeping tabs? So you have been following me," Ryan asked, feeling really creeped out.
"Uh, yeah, how else would I be able to know you wanted this," Derek replied matter of factly.
"Touchè."
"So why did you say Isaac," Ryan's alpha asked.
"Uh, really no reason besides the fact that he has the same home situation as me," the blonde replied.
"There's more to it and you know it. Didn't I tell you that we could hear hearbeats?"
"Yeah, but I was hoping you weren't really paying attention," Ryan replied shyly.
"Ah what the hell," Derek started," let's go track down a teenage boy."
☹
Isaac looked into the mirror of the backhoe, examining his new and fresh black eye. He was angry and upset, and he really hated working the night shift. He hated it every night, except the night that Ryan Bender showed up. He was so captivated by the way she spoke and the way she carried herself. He hated himself for the way he acted towards Ryan in chemistry class, she was already so broken, and he really didn't want to see her hurt. Isaac's thoughts were shaken by a rustling noise he heard coming from the woods. He tried to get a better look, and he heard more noises. Isaac began looking around frantically until the backhoe tipped over and he landed into a fresh grave. Isaac was scared because of the noises and footsteps. He looked up to see if was some one, and it was. Just not the people he was expecting. He saw Derek Hale and Ryan Bender.
"Need a hand," Derek asked.
☹
The next morning, Ryan watched as Sheriff Stilinski was questioning Isaac about what he saw that night in the graveyard.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see anything," Isaac replied to the sheriff.
"Oh okay," the sheriff said," how'd you get that black eye, Isaac?"
Ryan heard his hearbeat quicken as he said," school."
Ryan was mad, because she knew that he should tell the truth, but she did now want to be a hypocrite. She never told anyone about her mom, not even Isaac.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" A voice from behind her asked.
Ryan turned to see a police officer.
"Come here, kid," the officer said as he dragged her by the arm over to the sheriff.
"I'm in the middle of questioning. What do you want," the sheriff asked the officer when he brought Ryan to him.
"Found this trouble maker over by some headstones. I'm thinking she knows something," the officer replied.
"Hey sheriff," Ryan waved at the man.
"Bender, nice to see you out of the station for a change. You're staying out of trouble right?"
Ryan laughed at his comment then replied," you and I both know that's off the table. But I really don't know what happened last night. I just came here before school to visit my dad and sister."
"Speaking of school," Mr. Lahey interuppted," my son has to be there in twenty minutes."
Ryan turned towards the man and his son, trying to hide her face of pure disgust. She knew what that man did to Isaac and she was angry. But, she kept her anger to a low point to keep her from shifting.
"You're Isaac, right," Ryan asked as if she has never met him before.
"U-uh y-yea," Isaac said to her, slightly confused as to what she said.
"How do you know her," Mr. Lahey questioned his son.
"I'm in his French and Chemistry class," Ryan answered before Isaac could get a breath out.
It was silent for a moment until Isaac saw something in the woods behind the sheriff and Ryan. It was Derek Hale and Ryan could sense him without blinking an eye.
"I forgot I have an early lacrosse practice," Isaac said, wanting to get as far away from the scene as possible.
"I can walk you to school," Ryan offered.
Isaac looked at the blonde girl and then at his dad." No thanks, I still have to get my equiptment."
"Alright, see ya around Isaac," Ryan said and began her dreadful walk to school.
