English 8: Weeks of Learning

Week 1

    In this 1st week of class, i have learned the following topics which were the Graphic organizers and basic Journalism.

    Let us start with Graphic organizers. Graphic organizer is a visual display that demonstrates relationships between facts, concepts, or ideas. It can be a concept map, matrix, plot of structure or venn diagram.

    Next is Journalism including parts of a newspaper.I learned that the word "Journalism" is originated from the Latin word "Duirna" meaning "daily". Journalism refers to the investigation and reporting of the happenings and issues that are new, odd, close, popular, dramatic, timely, and relevant. It is publicated in three types: written, oral, and visual.
   
    I also learned the 3 types of local news which were the municipal provincial, and school news. We also discussed about the parts of newspaper which i already mentioned earlier.
   
    The parts that i have learned are: The front page which has the nameplate, banner photo, headlines, and banner headline. Feature page is said to be the heart of publication cause it targets our emotions. Editorial page's goal is to influence people with ideas/beliefs regarding a certain topic. Sports page is about sports. Sciencs page being the last is about the latest discoveries or any scientific breakthroughs.

    Those were what i have learned this week. I am looking forward for what i can learn more for the following weeks in English 8.
