Liz walked into the bar ready for work. She immediately went towards the bar and placed her bag on the bottom self behind the counter.
She looked up to see Gia. Gia was her co-worker and a good friend. Living in New York is was hard finding cool and loyal girls but Gia seemed to be one of the few.
"Hey Gia." she greeted. "Hey." she spoke dryly. Liz raised her eye brow. "What's wrong with you?"
"Hang over..." she mumbled. Gia placed her head on the counter rubbing her temple's in slow circles.
"Aww you poor baby." Liz mocked as she pulled Tylenol out her purse and sat them next to her.
"Yeah, yeah." she rolled her eyes as she pulled a water bottle out her purse and popped the pills into her mouth. She went over and switched the closed sign to open. The bar traffic was pretty slow during the day but Liz didn't mind she got paid on the hour and made a pretty decent living.
Few minutes later regular Jeremy walked through the door. He was wearing a suit and looked very nice. Jeremy worked for a some company called LCC as a executive whatever the hell that means. "Hey Jeremy, The usual?" Liz asked.
He nodded and took a seat on the stool. "You look down." She pointed out.
He shrugged. "I pulled all nighter last night." he frowned.
"Sorry kid."
Jeremy smirked. "I'm older than you."
He looked around. "Why don't you go to college instead of working here. Your only twenty two."
"Yeah, well. " she shrugged.
"Its not Well Liz, your hands down one of the smartest girls I know. I could get you a interview for a internship. Good pay and lots of opportunity."
"I'm good."
"Whatever Liz your wasting your time at this job." he stated dryly.
"Why are you here anyway?" Liz asked annoyed. Jeremy gave her the stink eye. "I'm meeting a co-worker, actually he went to high school with us."
"Like I want to rember anyone from highschool." I scoffed. I went to some fancy private school on a scholarship. Bayswater high school.
Little later her old friend David walks into the bar. "Hey man," He dapps up Jeremy up. He looks to see Liz and smiles. "Hello Liz."
"So you remember her from high school?"
"No, I was at this bar last night." He smirked. Liz rolled her eyes. Jeremy smirked. "Oh, I see," Jeremy gave Liz a grin. "You want to go out with Liz?" he asks turning back to David.
David smiled. He thought Liz was very beautiful, she had this sorta glow about her he couldn't shake off. "Yes."
"Well you not the first. You how many guys been trying to get with that?" Jeremy stated. "Plus--"
Liz frowned. "Your a asshole, listen I'm not looking to date anyone right now." Liz set up the evening menus in front of each stool. David chuckled. "Why not?"
Liz stopped what she was doing and raised her eye brow. "Excuse me?"
"Why not?" He repeated.
"Because, I'm grown and if I don't want to date someone then I don't have to."
"Spicy." Jeremy hisses with a smile. David laughed. "I just want to show you a good time Liz. You seem different."
"What?" Liz asked in curiosity suddenly interested. "I don't know really, you just got a glow about you." He spoke. Liz saw nothing but sincerity from this guy but she had to be real with her self a lot guys play a part and turn out to be dickheads.
"You sound no different from any other asshole that has walked in here and tried to get me in there bed."
David shake his head. "Whatever, Jeremy you ready?"
"But you just got here."
"Well Now I'm ready to leave." He says annoyed and then walks away.
Liz shrugs his attitude'soff.
Jeremy shakes his head,"Liz say sorry and just go out with the guy."
Liz shakes her head. She wasn't interested, was that a bad thing?
"Please for me? I'd owe you one. He is a good guy really. " Jeremy begs. Liz smiled a little. You know I like it when you beg, but it's not enough. Storms outta here with a tantrum and I'm supposed to feed into that shit.
"Here," He slides her a tip, a nice one.
"Are you trying to pimp me out?" She slid the money back his way forcefully.
"No I'm trying to get you outta this bar just for one night with a guy who I know is pretty stand up." He slide the money back her way with a earnest look.
"Fine." She walks around the bar and outside. She finds him standing outside the door on his phone.
"Hey, Uh David." He starting walking away with even a passing glance.
"Hey! Come back please."
"What?" He was snappy. Why did guys get all salty after rejection. It wasn't cute at all.
Liz bits her lip and thinks for a minutes. "Yes." she finally says.
"Yes?"
"Yes!"
"Yes what?" David asks. Liz sighed. "Yes I'll go out with you."
David eye's lit a a bit. "OK." He spoke as he walked back towards her. She led him back into the bar and he sat. "Want anything?"
"Old fashioned." she proceeded to make him a old fashioned. After she slid the drink his way Liz sighed while grabbing his hand and writing her number. "What made you change your mind so quickly?"
"A little birdy convinced me." She spoke, side eyeing Jeremy.
"Awww isn't that sweet." Kyle; my co worker spoke mockingly. Where the hell he come from. Probably passed out in the back. I could smell the liquor on him from here. "You know I damn near begged you and you never gave me the time of day."
Liz frowned. "Shouldn't you be at home..Your shift is over."
"I'm just on my way there honey bee." He said holding his hand out to David. "Kyle my man."
"I'm David." He spoke neutrally.
"Nice to meet ya man, love to stay and chat but got shit to do. Bye." he spoke as he walked out the bar cockily and Liz rolled her eye's.
Jeremy watched went off. "Oh man, we gotta get to our meeting."
David nodded. "Ok. Bye Liz."Liz waved to the boys and then looked around for Dianna.
"Di?" She shouted around the bar only to find her sleep on the back room floor.
Liz chuckled. "Sweet dreams."
