"Lucky!" I gasped in surprise, a wide smile spreading across my face at his sweet gesture. He was dressed in a pair of black ripped jeans and a patterned, loose blue shirt that brought out the colour of his eyes."Surprise," he grinned and handed me the bouquet. I brought the flowers up to my nose and inhaled the lovely scent.
"Thank you!" I beamed and wrapped my arms around him from my seat on the bed. His warmth wrapped around me like a soft blanket and too soon it was gone. "What are these for?"
"Happy belated birthday, Brielle." he smiled, biting his lip as he stared at my own. "You didn't tell me it was your birthday a long time ago, missy." he frowned.
I felt heat crawl up my neck. "Well I didn't know you very well then,"
"Yes I suppose," he glanced away thoughtfully. "But I still feel bad for missing it so I wanted to give you a little gift."
My heart melted at his words. He was so impeccably sweet. "Thank you, Lucky. It means a lot, really." My eyes teared up slightly. It was the only birthday gift I received and I couldn't be happier that it was from someone I loved.
"Anything for my baby girl." he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine. His minty breath overwhelmed my senses as I became lost in his touch. He pressed his body against mine but lurched back as we heard a crunch. I looked wide eyed at the roses between us before laughing, Lucky quickly joining me.
"Well at least we didn't bend any." I chuckled as I got up off the bed and laid them carefully onto my bureau.
"If we did I could've just gotten you more," he shrugged and perched on the edge of my bed. I walked back to the bed and sat next to him. "Now, what are you having trouble with, my love?" he asked and wrapped his arm around me. I picked up my book, it already being open to the the page I needed.
"This one," I pointed to the question in the book before passing it to him. "I tried it like three times and I can't get the right answer. I don't know what I'm doing wrong!" I sighed in frustration.
He grabbed my hand and brought it up to his lips. He gently kissed my knuckles while gazing into my eyes. "Relax, baby. Don't you worry your pretty head, I'm going to help you."
"Okay," I laughed lightly while I stared at him with complete adoration. My eyes traced over his prominent jaw and over his full lips. It was hard to believe he was real, let alone that he was mine.
"Ah, here it is." he pointed to a place in my workings. "You forgot a negative and that screwed up your answer."
"Of course," I groaned and took my notebook out of his hands. I retried the question, putting in the negative this time and ended up with the correct answer. "Finally!" I exclaimed and threw my notebook away from me on the bed.
"There you go! Well done, darling." Lucky grinned proudly at me. He wrapped his arms around me before lifting me up and placing me on his lap.
"Thank you for your help." I smiled graciously at him, looping my arms around his neck. "I wouldn't have seen that stupid mistake on my own."
"Don't mention it. I'm always here for you when you need me," he pressed his lips gently to my forehead.
"I love you." I whispered.
