Sophia couldn't sleep. A mixture of the wine and the conversation her and Seto had had bothered her. She missed home, badly. For the first time all day, she took out her iPhone. She had six messages. One was from her Nonni. Translated, she said: "sweetheart, hope you arrived ok. your father called me and explained everything, I'm none too pleased about this arrangement. I wish you'd come home. All my love, Nonni. X" Sophia had to roll her eyes at this. Typical Nonni, worrying for nothing. Smiling, she looked at her other messages. The smile was wiped away as quickly as it came. Three were from Carlos.

"YOU LEFT ITALY? WHY DIDNT YOU SAY ANYTHING?"

"ANSWER ME NOW!!!!!!"

"YOURE STAYING WITH YOUR DAD???? SOPHIA ANSWER ME NOW!!!!"

Sophia gulped. Carlos had no right to be angry, especially now. God damn. She typed back: "Mangiati la merda e muori" (that's 'eat shit and die' in Italian!) She then blocked his number. The last two messages were from her father. In reply she wrote: "hello daddy, I'm here now. I've got a room but unfortunately I cannot sleep 🙊 oh no! Hope you're well. Lots of love x"'.

Sophia then looked through the deck her father gave her. They were beautiful, with an artistic personal twist to the each one. She had heard of cards such as Marshmallon, Kuriboh, ones she knew as common that had been seen on television commercials. Looking through the other cards, she noticed some that stuck out to her. A detailed though minuscule picture of a wood with a blonde girl sticking her head out from behind a tree, by the name of The Wood Nymph's Secret. The card was green, and it said "take control of any card on the field until either card is destroyed." Looking closer to the face of the wood elf, she smiled in realisation, running her finger over it. It was her mother. Her father had painted her mother into the face of the wood elf. Looking through her other cards, she saw traces of her in quite a few of the cards. Ancient Fairy Dragon had her eyes, Dark Magician Girl had her hair. Smiling, she shed a tear. Even after all this time, her father still painted her mothers beauty into the cards he made. Putting her cards down, she lay there in silence, listening to a wind chime she'd hung beside the open balcony window. Her thoughts moved to the young CEO that was currently typing away downstairs in the kitchen, finishing the work he'd neglected all day long. He was so... Polite. From what she'd seen on the television, he was a cold man, with no heart to speak of. The reporter had been quite rude, asking him many unimportant, irrelevant questions about his life, about his brother, his life, if he had anyone special in his life. To this, he replied: "I fail to see what this has to do with my new duel disk software." Sucking in a deep breath, she got out of bed, and walked downstairs. She was wearing a loose satin nightie that fell to just above her knees. She suddenly felt very clichè, and hoped Kaiba wouldn't think her to be some sort of whore. Pausing outside the kitchen door, her feet cold on the polished marble, her hand in a fist ready to knock, she suddenly felt so small. What was she going to say? 'I know you have work, and I know you're probably getting sick of me already, but keep me company because I can't sleep.' It sounded pathetic just thinking of it. She turned, but as she did, she heard the door opening. "Sophia?" Oops.
