The Dragon's Heart

Chapter 8

     Eveline unlocked the door with the spare key Soph had given her long before. Anthony walked in as she closed the door behind them. Anthony scanned around.
     "So this is what the inside looks like. Hm. Nice." Eveline locked the door and glared at Anthony.
     "You better start talkin." Anthony turned to find her stomping towards him. His eyes widened slightly as he backed up. "Who are you? What do you want with Soph? Are you stalking her?" Anthony trips and falls into the couch. Eveline crosses her arms and glares down at him.
     "Uh... um...." Anthony tries to find the words he needs but he gets tongue tied.
     "What? You gonna answer or not?" She stares at him with murderous intent in her eyes. "How about an easy one? Why did you crash that party last night and why did you drag Soph off afterwards?"
     "It was loud and unnecessary and I brought her to a place that suited her. She doesn't belong at a place like that. Her heart is too kind." Eveline looked at him somewhat confused.
     "So... what made you think that?" Anthony's eyes widen and he suddenly goes quiet. Her eyes narrow as she glares at him. "What. Made. You. Think. That." Anthony sighs.
     "Do you believe in... dragons?" Eveline's eye go from murderous, to completely lost.
     "You mean the giant ass lizards with wings and breath fire? No. Why?" Anthony hesitates.
     "Soph can keep a secret. So... can you?" Eveline rolls her eyes and nods.
     "Sure. Depending on if you show me proof it's worth keeping a secret." Eveline uncrosses her arms and places her hands on her hips. "So tell me this super secret thing."
     "I know she has a kind heart because... I can see her aura." Anthony's eyes turn reptilian and icy blue. Eveline's eyes widen as Anthony stands. "My mother was a soothsayer a long time ago. My father was a dragon. Me... I'm a half human. Half dragon." Eveline, not wanting to believe it, starts laughing.
     "Okay where are the cameras?" She starts looking around. "You got me Soph. I'm sorry for making you go to that party. Come on out." She turns back around to see Anthony's wing and tail sprout from his back. "Ah!" She panics slightly and falls backwards onto the ground. "Please don't eat me!" Anthony holds his hand out to her.
     "We don't do that." He smiles.
