And here I thought that Jake would never approach me again after everything I told him about me, that day, in the library.
But instead, he's not ready to leave my side for even a couple hours! So guys like him do exist, huh?
'And yes, I was waiting here for you.' Jake continued, his voice very low,
'The whole time.''Why didn't you go home?' I questioned dubiously, yet with a voice coated with slight lenience.
'And leave you alone to walk all the way back to school? I just- couldn't.'
You sound like a stalker to me, man.But I knew he wasn't anything like that, yet I felt detrimental,
'It's getting late. You should go home.'
'So should you. Although you live . . .' Jake paused. Suddenly, cold drops were felt on our skin and three seconds later, the rain started pouring. Our clothes started getting darker. Neither of us had an umbrella.'Hurry!' Jake commanded, 'Get in my car.'
'But your car will get wet-'
'Better than getting yourself drenched to the bone.' He ran to his car. I followed him swiftly and we were instantly sitting inside the black shade of the black car.
It just HAD to rain NOW! Damn it!'Doesn't look like it's gonna stop anytime soon.' Jake said, peering out the window which was apparently getting pelted by the giant drops.
He turned his gaze toward me, biting his lip,
'So, what are you gonna do?'
'I guess, you could . . . . drop me to the school.' I replied, hesitantly.
'But then, what are you gonna do? You do know that the school gates will be closed now, right?'
'Of course I know that. I always climb the wall behind the library to get in. No one ever notices.'
'Huh? So that day of the masquerade--'
'I was trying to climb that wall and . . . um, escape.'
Woah, that sounded so pathetic.Jake's eyes looked troubled,
'But even if you do climb the walls to get in, you'll get completely soaked anyway.'
'So, I'll go to my room and change.'
'But you'll catch a cold.'
'I won't.'
'You will!' Jake stared hard at me with concern and determination.
I stopped speaking and stared back for a few seconds. My mind had gone blank. I couldn't find anymore excuses.
Why was this happening?'So, what do you want me to do?' I asked.
'Come with me to my house.'
My eyes widened with horrified shock.
What the heck?!'Huh?' I questioned, 'Did I hear you right? You want me to—'
'Come over at my place.' Jake repeated in an obvious tone.
'What?! Why would I do that?'
'Well, at least you won't get wet. And my house is way nearer to this location too.' Jake reasoned dully, 'Don't you feel suffocated in that tiny room in the library?'
'No, I don't. I'm perfectly comfortable.' I said firmly.Jake paused and exhaled swiftly,
'Okay, fine. I'm not gonna force you into this. I won't go too far.' His voice suddenly turned completely depressing. His face looked seriously disappointed. I could also see that he was trying hard to hide his sadness.
Wait! He did say that he never actually spent time with his parents.
He was definitely lonely at home. I think. At least, that's the conclusion I reached after perceiving the total change in his facial expression.
I suddenly found myself slipping. Not physically, but mentally. I found myself being unable to resist his emotions.
Stop! I don't want this! I can't afford to lose control over my stubbornness! But then-
'It's already so late. Won't I be disturbing the other people in your house?'
Jake smirked,
'The only other people in the house are gonna be the servants, you know.' His tone became surprisingly regretful and annoyed when he said that sentence.
'Ah. Right, I guess.'
'It's okay if you don't want to. But it'll only be for sometime.' He added.
I didn't reply.
'Oh, yeah!' He exclaimed after a second, 'We'll look up sites related to your curse.'
