*Mere*

Love isn't perfect. It isn't a story book or a fairy tale and it doesn't always come easy but.... love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together...... holding on and never letting go.... it is a short word, easy to say , to spell... but yet it has so much meaning... it is difficult to define.... and impossible to live without. Love takes a lot of work but love is realizing that every hour, every minute, every second of that hard work....... was worth it.

My heart ached and my thoughts were scrambled. There was not a thing that I wasn't thinking of right now. All my regrets hitting me at once. All my pain followed by sorrow and sadness. What have I done to myself? What have I gotten myself into? But mostly, why have I hurt myself?

I know I started this all and that it is all my fault. I also knew it should end with me.

I mean, I practically stole Gale's first kiss. I took revenge in my ex by making him jealous. I hurt Fred as I defended Cameron and for what? I hurt my best friend. I defended Cameron when even I knew he was guilty. I knew he only wanted me to get back at Gale. As if the only reason he wanted me back was to prove he could get anyone he wanted. And me letting myself proved him right.

'Flight number three-hundred and sixty five passengers, your flight has...' (A/N: just go with it. I have never been to an airport and never plan in getting on a plane! Fictional, people!!!)

The huge speakers broke me of my thoughts making me jump up a little in surprise. The people in the waiting room stood grabbing their bags and heading for the door. I grabbed my own suitcase and made my way to the door.

Different people were getting in board. In front of me, there was a couple. They stood together wrapped in each others arms. His arm was around her form as she leaned on him. I saw as they smiled at each other lovingly. The sight alone brought tears to my eyes and I had to look away.

Someone bumped into me from behind and I turned around to face a guy. He had brown hair and caramel eyes. He looked behind him at a loud crowd of teenagers, "Watch it!" he shouted before turning back to me, "I'm so sorry. They pushed and-...".

"It's ok" I mumbled.

"My name is Derek" he said extending his hand.

I nodded and slipped my hand into his, "Mere".

"Crazy place, huh?" he asked. "I myself don't do good with airports, but gotta visit my grandmother. Are you visiting, too?" he asked making conversation.

I shook my head, "Permanent stay" I mumbled.

He gave me a smile and nodded behind me, "Your turn" he said.

A small, pained smile spread on my face as I turned around. I walked up to the woman as I held my pass on my hand. My hand shook as I gave it to her. She smiled and stapled my ticket before handing it back, "Welcome aboard!".

The cab driver gave us a glare as we told him to hurry up. Fred was slapping the back of the seat as he urged the cab diver forward. He sat back with an annoyed sigh and turned to me, "Finally, you idiot" he said.

"What?" I snapped. "Now its my fault!?".

"You're the man!" he snapped. "If you wouldn't have been such an airhead, none of this would've happened!".

"She's the one who didn't believe me!".

"And she's also the one who begged!" he hissed back.

I ran my fingers through my hair letting out a breath. Suddenly, the cab driver looked at us over the rear mirror, "He's right, you know? Men are supposed to be kneeling at their women's feet".

.

After receiving a speech from the cab driver, he pressed on the brakes and we lurched forward, "What the hell!?" Fred shouted.

"This is as far as I can go. Too full" the diver said pointing at the honking row of cabs.

I let out a frustrated sigh and opened the door. Fred passed the cab driver the money as he opened his own door. "You'll make it!" the drivers voice said behind us.

Fred and I ran forward as fast as we could. We were only a few feet from the entrance. Many thoughts were scrambled in my head. Would I make it in time? Would I find Mere with all those people in there? Would Mere even forgive me?

I shoved through the door and looked around, panting. I received stares from passing people. Some wore informs and others vacational clothing. I heard Fred panting beside me. "Where?" I yelled.

"Up the stairs!" he said pointing toward a sign that led to the waiting seats. Without another word, we were making our way past people.

And all too soon, I found the correct door, "Wait!" I yelled at a woman who was about to close the door. She stopped to look at me with curious eyes. "Wait!" I repeated when I reached her side. "I have to get in there" I said, stopping at her side.

"Do you have a passport?" she asked narrowing her eyes.

"You don't understand-" I started.

"No" she interrupted reaching to grab something at her pocket. "No passport, no plane. Now, I'm going to have to ask you to step away. The plane is already late as it is".

"I won't go! I have to find someone-!" I started.

"Security!" she shouted when I reached for the door.

Not seconds later, I was being yanked back, "No! You don't understand! I have to find her!".

"Gale!" Fred shouted at my side as I was dragged away, "Officers, its ok. I'll take him out. We're leaving".

"No!" I yelled.

Before I knew it, Fred was turning me away. He said something to the security and they gave me a glare before turning around.

'Flight number three hundred and sixty- five is now taking off...' a speaker said.

I stood staring out the huge window as a plane got ready to take of. A plane that surly had Mere inside of it. One thought was on my mind.

I was too late.
